Marty Kinder Shares His Love of Poker with His Three Sons
PokerNews caught up with Marty Kinder, patriarch of the Kinder family that includes his three sons - Kyle, Ryan, and Drew. He discussed his own poker background and how his kids started winning at a very young age.
"I enjoyed poker ever since I was a little kid and then I got into it obviously when Full Tilt, Party Poker and all that was going, got into it pretty heavy. Kyle and Ryan, my two oldest boys, both had four-figure scores online before they were 10, 12 years old, so we've always liked it. I don't know if that was the best parenting, but I can tell you they know their math pretty good."
When asked what it means to him to be able to travel locally and play tournaments together as a family, Kinder explained that it's very special to him.
"It's just great to be able to spend time with them. It's something we can do together. I got three boys. They're all good poker players, and, it's just nice to go on a trip and spend time with my boys, and I enjoy that quite a bit."
To settle the debate on who's the best poker player in the family, Kinder had a very diplomatic answer:
"I would say I'm fourth, but other than that, it's a tie for first."
Marty, Kyle, and Ryan all registered for Day 1c, and at the time of writing, pops is sitting with the biggest stack of the trio. Drew had other commitments to take care of, so he couldn't make it out this time around.
