Carson Casts One Out

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

One short-stacked player was already all-in with a {10-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs} board on the felt from the big blind, and Duane Gerleman checked from under the gun with 6,000 already in the side pot. Harry Carson checked back, and the {9-Spades} fell on the river. Gerleman checked again, and Carson bet 3,000. Gereleman called, and Carson tabled {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} for the nut flush. Both of Carson's opponents mucked, and the big blind was eliminated.

Elsewhere, Jon Stanfield was eliminated, but is in the re-entry line to take another shot at making another deep run at RGPS Horseshoe Council Bluffs.

Gardner Claims the Nuts

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

A player raised to 1,100 from middle position, and was called by Terry Gardner in the small blind and Kim Kilroy in the big blind.

Action checked to the raiser on a {j-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop, and he bet 2,000. Gardner tanked for a few moments, then check-raised to 6,500. Kilroy and the middle-position player both folded.

"Ace-king, no diamonds," Gardner told the table after the hand.

South Dakota's Mark Fink Looking For His Golden Ticket

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante
Mark Fink
Mark Fink

Spotted in the field in Thursday's $250 Black Chip Bounty Kickoff Event, Mark Fink has made quite a name for himself in the Midwest with over a decade of accomplishments in poker, and Fink is here at Horseshoe Council Bluffs to try and gain more ground on taking over the top spot on South Dakota's all-time tournament earnings list.

Currently in third-place on the Hendon Mob database for South Dakotans, behind William Eichel and Michael Moore, Fink has earned over $517,000 in his lengthy career. His biggest live cash was in 2016, when he finished runner-up at MSPT Grand Falls for $31,323. Fink's biggest claim to fame, however, is the impressive five WSOP Circuit Rings that he's earned, which puts him in some rarified air, as one of just forty-five players over the course of the WSOP Circuit's history to accumulate at least five rings. His most recent ring came in 2019 at the WSOPC event here at Horseshoe Council Bluffs, when he won $15,525 for winning Event #6: $400 NLHE (Six-Handed).

Fink has had success in prior RunGood Events here previously, with a win in a $200 PLO Rebuy event for $3,114 in 2015. Will Fink be able to navigate another big field and earn a Golden Ticket to the All-Stars ProAm? We'll be keeping tabs on one of South Dakota's finest poker players throughout the Main Event to find out.

Jon Stanfield in June's RGPS Main Event

A player raised to 700 from middle position, and Jon Stanfield, who was part of the eleven-way chop in the June RunGood Poker Series Main Event here at Horseshoe Council Bluffs, three-bet shoved for 4,600 in the big blind. The middle-position player called.

Jon Stanfield: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

Neither player could make a flush on a {9-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{q-Hearts} runout, and the middle-position player quipped, "All that for a hundred?" as the dup chopped up the small pot.

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Scott Buller
Scott Buller

A player in the big blind had bet 6,000 on an {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop, and Scott Buller, who won a ring in June's RGPS event here at Horseshoe Council Bluffs in the $250 Omaha 8 or Better event, jammed for 19,000 from the hijack. The big blind called.

Scott Buller: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Buller's full house still had to fade an ace, queen or five after the {5-Diamonds} fell on the turn, and he successfully dodged disaster on the {7-Spades} river to earn the double.
