The first of three Day 1 flights in the RunGood Poker Series main event here at Hard Rock Tulsa, Oklahoma has come to a close with $79,560 of the event's $100,000 guaranteed prize-pool already accounted for and two flights still left to play. The day saw non-stop action from onset to end with 153 total entries sitting down in an attempt to find a bag for Day 2. Of those 153 entries, 20 players will return to join the players that end up bagging the two remaining Day 1 flights, both of which will take place tomorrow.

Ending the day with the chip lead for this flight was Jackson Turrentine, who will unbag 554,000 chips when the three Day 1 fields converge on Sunday to play down to a champion. Joining him at the top of the end of day chip counts is Jael Lewis (541,000) who is fresh off her best career live cash and looking to add to her already impressive resume.

The flop came 885, keeping the button in the lead. The 7 on the turn opened the door for Phillips, providing outs to a straight.

The river came down with the 6, completing the runner-runner straight for Phillips and bring Day 1a to a halt as the remaining 20 players will bag for Day 2 on Sunday as Phillips opponent headed to the rail one spot short of the money.

Cornelius Doubles Through Paxton

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Julie Cornelius
Julie Cornelius

Doug Paxton raised to 32,000 from under the gun only to see RunGood Poker Series Ambassador Julie Cornelius three-bet jammed from his direct left. Action folded back around to Paxton who quickly called to send both players to a runout with Cunningham at risk.

Julie Cornelius: AQ
Doug Paxton: AK

Paxton, who stated that he was on a heater, was in a strong position to send Cornelius to the rail, but when the flop came 682, Cornelius picked up a lot of outs to take the pot away and secure a double.

When the turn brought the 7, Cornelius made the nut flush and left Paxton drawing dead headed to the inconsequential 8, officially putting an end to Paxton's heater.

Simon Says Gannon Wins This Round

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Liam Gannon
Liam Gannon

Jason Simon raised to 6,500 from under the gun and found a single caller in Liam Gannon from the big blind before seeing the flop come out 74K.

Gannon checked to Simon who continued with a bet of 6,500. Gannon didn't waste much time in making the call to see the turn bring the K.

Gannon checked to Simon who bet out again, this time for 14,000. Gannon made the call once more to see the 4 fall on the river.

Gannon checked a third time and after a brief pause, Simon checked behind. Gannon turned up the J7, prompting Simon to send his cards into the muck.

Jones Takes One Off Raymer

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Greg Raymer
Greg Raymer

RunGood Poker Series Ambassador Greg Raymer raised to 4,500 from under the gun and found calls from both Wesley Jones in late position and the player in the big blind before seeing the flop come A85.

The big blind checked to Raymer, who continued with a bet of 3,500. Jones paused briefly before tossing out a raise in the amount of 8,500.

The big blind seemed to have a decision as he thought for a moment and eventually made what appeared to be a pained fold. With action back on Raymer, he thought for a moment before sliding his cards out from under his trademark fossil and pushing them towards the muck, awarding the pot to Jones.

Gannon Wins A Massive One, Can't Explain Why

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Liam Gannon
Liam Gannon

A player in late position raised to 2,800 and action folded to Liam Gannon who, by his own admission, inexplicably jammed for 46,300 from the small blind. The player in late position snap-called, covering Gannon and sending both players to a runout with Gannon at risk.

Liam Gannon: AJ
Late Position: KK

The Q97 flop offered Gannon no hope but that all changed when the A spiked the turn, putting him in great position for a huge double with only one card to come.

The river brought the 4, locking up a huge pot for Gannon as he cracks the kings of his opponent.

Gannon Shows the Bluff

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

The player under the gun limped in for 400 as did Liam Gannon in the cutoff, the button player and both of the blinds to see the flop come 89Q.

Action checked to Gannon who put a bet out for 600, getting called only by the under-the-gun player to bring the Q out on the turn.

The under-the-gun player checked again and Gannon again bet out, this time for 2,100. The player under the gun tossed in another call before seeing the 5 fall on the river.

The under-the-gun player checked a third time only to see Gannon continue the aggression with a third bet for 5,000. The player under the gun wasted little time before sending his cards into the muck before Gannon, who is fresh off a runner-up finish in the Flip And Go event early today, turn over the A10 for a pure bluff to take the pot.

The RunGood Poker Series Returns to Hard Rock Tulsa Today for the $600 Main Event!

Pete Petree
Pete Petree

The RunGood Poker Series at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma returns tonight for the first of three starting flights for the stop's main event. With a championship ring up for grabs alongside the $100,000 guaranteed prize-pool, this $600 event is sure to bring out a lot of familiar faces and ring winner's from past RGPS seasons, adding to the stop's already fun and family-like atmosphere at the tables.

This main event will carry a bit of added value as well as the eventual winner will also win a seat into the invitation-only Dream Seat event that runs next month. The eventual winner of that tournament will then win a seat into the 64-player capped field PokerGo Invitational $1,000,000 guaranteed freeroll, meaning that taking down this event could be a ticket to life-changing money for whoever goes home with the title.

The RGPS Tulsa Main Event champion from earlier this year in Janurary was Pete Petree, who navigated his way through a 649 entry field to claim the title, the ring and the $62,911 first-place prize after three days of action in the heart of America. That event absolutely demolished the $100,000 guarantee by creating a total prize-pool worth $337,480 and this event is expected to be much the same as the guarantee is expected to be left in the dust once again after what is sure to be an impressive turnout.

Players expected to take their seats and chase a main event title include all-time RGPS ring leader Brian Frenzel(who already added to his ring count this stop), Liam Gannon, and RunGood Ambassadors Justin Gardenhire, Daniel Lowery, Julie Cornelius, Ross Bybee and 2004 WSOP Main Event champion Greg Raymer. While this is a short list of notable names expected at the tables tonight to kick off the main event, the RunGood Poker Series is known for it community of regulars at all stops and it's safe to say that every table will end up being a family-like atmosphere filled with familiar faces, laughter and big pots.

Play will kick off at 6:00 p.m. CST with 30-minute levels and blinds of 100/200 and a big blind ante of 200. Play will continue until 12.5% of the field remains, at which point the remaining players bag for the Day 2 session on Sunday, so keep it locked to PokerNews for up-to-date coverage of the RunGood Poker Series Tulsa Main Event!
