Contreras Rockets Out Front

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

Eric Rivera had 1,700 in front of him from the hijack, and was contemplating a raise from Jose Del Cid Contreras in the big blind to 4,100.

"Alright, I'm all in," Rivera said before jamming for 17,000. Contreras snap-called.

"You got anything?" Rivera asked Contreras, who said, "Yeah. Bullets."

Eric Rivera: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Jose Del Cid Contreras: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}

Contreras held on the {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop, but Rivera picked up a gutshot on the {k-Spades} turn. No help would arrive on the {3-Spades} river, however, and Rivera said "I'll be back!" before heading back to the registration desk.

Big Stacks Booming At Table 7

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Matt Sundberg
Matt Sundberg

Alain Candales Falcon raised to 400 from middle position, and 2019 WSOP Seniors Bracelet winner Howard Mash three-bet to 2,000 next to act. Action folded back to Falcon, who called.

Falcon checked the {9-Spades}{3-Spades}{a-Hearts} flop over to Mash, who bet 1,400. Falcon folded.

"On the board, let's go!" Mash said with a grin.

Despite the setback, Falcon still wields a massive stack for the early stage of the tournament, and fellow tablemate Matt Sundberg has already accumulated a stack of nearly three times starting stack under an hour into the day's play.

DiStefano Soaring

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Vito Distefano

"It was a crazy one!" Vito DiStefano said while showing off his newly earned massive stack. He was kind enough to share details of his good fortune.

"I had {k-}{10-} and raised, and was three-bet by {a-}{q-}. A player had {q-}{j-} in the big blind and called, and I called as well."

Good fortune awaited DiStefano on the flop; "I flopped the nuts on a {a-}{q-}{j-} flop, and both those guys flopped two pair. It checked to the guy in late position, he bet half the pot, and the big blind went all in. I called, the late position guy called, and I held up!"

RecPoker Returns to the RunGood Poker Series

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Steve Fredlund
Steve Fredlund

RecPoker, an official partner of the RunGood Poker Series, is here on the second of their "RunGood Road Trips", and leading the team this weekend is Steve Fredlund, who is both the founder of RecPoker and the host of the RecPoker Podcast.

RecPoker's first foray into RunGood Road Tripping was at the RGPS Horseshoe Council Bluffs $575 Main Event, which ended in a stunning 11-way chop for first. A well represented crew was led by John Somsky (32nd - $1,953) and Fredlund (37th - $1,536), while Marvin "Boomer" Schumer took down the Seniors Event for $4,751.

Fredlund hosts a weekly podcast called "Chats", which are described on-site as "engaging conversations with wonderful people in the poker community," and recent guests include many prominent poker figures, such as Kenny Hallaert, Kevin Mathers, and even 2014 WSOP Main Event champ Martin Jacobson. Another weekly podcast called "Forums" is hosted by Jim Reid, and focus on strategy conversations sparked by the extensive threads in the RecPoker forums.

With an array of free content and a supportive community, some of whom have joined up with Fredlund in the "RecPoker House" nearby to attend this week's events, it's easy to see why RecPoker is a well-respected and popular site for engaging poker content.

Fredlund, who fired and busted in yesterday's Day 1a flight, is back in action today, and we'll keep an eye on him and the rest of the RecPoker Road Trip crew all day long.

Fredlund Can't Find the Fold

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Steve Fredlund
Steve Fredlund

Michael Lind had a bet of 20,000 in front of him from the hijack, and with a {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{7-Spades} board on the felt, RecPoker founder Steve Fredlund was contemplating a decision with his stack of around 16,000. Fredlund eventually stacked his chips up in a column and slid them in the pot, and Lind tabled {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for top two.

Fredlund winced, then showed {k-Hearts}{q-Spades} for an inferior two pair, and Lind earned the knockout.

Rivera and Falcon Chop a Big One

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

Alain Candales Falcon raised to 1,200 from the cutoff, and was called by Eric Rivera in the small blind and Katerina Lukina in the big blind.

Action checked to Falcon on a {k-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{q-Spades} flop, and he bet 2,500. Only Rivera called.

Both players checked the {6-Diamonds} turn, and Rivera led out for 6,900 on the {6-Spades} river. Falcon raised to 15,000, and Rivera tanked for a minute before flicking in calling chips. Falcon rolled over {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for runner-runner trip sixes, and Rivera smirked and showed {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a flush draw that made the same trip sixes, and their lack of kickers resulted in a chop pot.
