Kastory Spins a Yarn on Phan

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Mark Kastory raised to 3,700 from under the gun, and Ryan Phan called in the big blind.

Both players checked the {4-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} flop, and Phan checked again on the {a-Clubs} turn. Kastory bet 4,000 and Phan called.

Phan check-called a bet of 11,000 from Kastory on the {9-Hearts} river, but mucked after Kastory tabled {7-Clubs}{7-Spades} for sevens-full.

Toomer's Diamonds Doom a Foe

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

A player jammed for 4,800 from middle position, and Richard Toomer made the call in the cutoff.

Opponent: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Richard Toomer: {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

"You got diamonds," Toomer's opponent said.

As if on cue, the {4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop brought Toomer a flush draw, and he didn't wait long to drill the {9-Diamonds} turn, giving him an unbeatable flush before the {9-Hearts} could fall on the river.

"Good luck everybody, have fun!" said Toomer's opponent to everyone with a smile, taking the bad beat in stride.

Last Break of the Night; Registration Closing

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Players are off on their final fifteen-minute break of the evening. When they return, they'll play four more thirty-minute levels before bagging and tagging for the evening. Registration for today's Day 1a flight will come to a close at the conclusion of this break.

Calverley Flops the Joint

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

William Jefferson raised to 2,000 from the cutoff, and was called by the button, as well as Doc Hanson in the small blind and Jeremy Calverley in the big blind.

"Five," Hanson said once the {9-Spades}{q-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop fell, tossing out a single 5k chip. Calverley was the only caller.

"I'll check to ya!" Hanson said after the {6-Hearts} fell on the turn. Calverley bet 10,000 and Hanson called.

Both players checked the {a-Spades} river, and Hanson tabled {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for a pair of queens. Calverley held {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for Broadway, however, and took down the pot.

Jordison and Nuwwarah Score a One-Two KO

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Hand #1:

A player in the small blind raised to 4,500, then quickly called when Angela Jordison three-bet shoved for 20,500 in the big blind.

Angela Jordison: {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Opponent: {a-}{k-}

The {j-Hearts}{q-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop gave Jordison a double-gutter, and after the {7-Clubs} turn bricked off, the {9-Hearts} river brought in her straight for the double.

Hand #2:

The opponent in the previous hand jammed on the button for his last 10,000, and Mo Nuwwarah quickly called in the big blind.

Opponent: {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Mo Nuwwarah: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

Nuwwarah's jacks got a small sweat when the {10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop paired the button's ten, but no further help came on the {a-Hearts} turn or {4-Clubs} river to eliminate the button.

Rystrom Continues Mashing

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Tim Rystrom
Tim Rystrom

A player on the button had committed their last 16,300 on a {7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop, and overwhelming chip leader Tim Rystrom made the call in middle position.

Tim Rystrom: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}
Opponent: {10-Spades}{4-Spades}

Rystrom's flush draw was bigger than his opponent's, and when the {3-Clubs} turn and {j-Diamonds} river bricked off, it was king-high that earned yet another knockout for Rystrom, who is far and away the chip leader in the room at present.

Fink On the Uptick

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Mark Fink
Mark Fink

Mark Fink raised to 2,200 from middle position, and was called by Thadd Wolff in the small blind, as well as the player in the big blind.

Action checked to Fink on an {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}{a-Clubs} flop, and he bet 3,100. Wolff quickly folded, while the big blind took a second look at his short stack of under 10,000, before letting his hand go as well.
