The first day of the RunGood Poker Series Downstream $575 Main Event is in the books and two of the three starting flights are over. Phillip Teel leads the players moving on to Day 2 with 269,000. He bagged the top stack in the evening Day 1b flight while Matt Donaldson was the big stack from Day 1a with 201,500.

Over the two Friday flights, there were 184 entries (84 on 1a, 100 on 1b) and 35 players (16 from 1a, 19 from 1b) booked their tickets to Day 2 at noon Sunday.

Several players took a few shots at the $100K GTD Main Event. Jeff Bryan, Rodney Spriggs, Shawn Roberts, Nate Wheeler, Grant Hinkle, and Mason Hinkle all fired but couldn't find a bag.

A few of them are expected to join the final starting flight on Saturday at noon.

Teel is the overall chip leader with Justin Gardenhire, Donaldson, Landon Mabe, and Shawn Powers making up the top five stacks after the first two flights. With Day 1c expected to be the largest flight, there may be more than a few players creeping into the top five.

Jacob Seale bagged 96,500 and is currently drawing live to an unofficial RGPS cycle. Of all the RGPS stops that the tour visits twice a year, Seale has cashed in every Main Event except here at Downstream. He will be looking to change that Sunday and possibly take home his first RGPS Main Event title after finishing second on two different occasions.

The Downstream Casino poker room should be packed tomorrow as the final flight for the Main Event begins at noon. The $100K GTD was never in question, but the final prize pool will be determined around 5 p.m. on Saturday.

You can track all the action right here on PokerNews.com — with photos and updates coming all weekend long until the newest RGPS Main Event champion is crowned.
