"Leqenden" has claimed the most recent 2020 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) title, topping a field of 557 entries in Event #15-H $2,100 NLHE [Sunday HR SE] to take down the first-place prize of $196.648.

The two-day event generated a prize pool of $1,114,000, with eight-and-a-half hours of play on Day 1 seeing the number of players in the field shrink to 42. When all was said and done, the Belarussian was heads up for the title with Brazil's "chicalltreta". "Leqenden" had the chip lead and never relinquished it en route to victory.

Day 2 Recap

The 42 advancing players returned to action with a Day 2 roster headlined by Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz (32nd place), Jack "swaggersorus" Sinclair (33rd place), and Sam "SamSquid" Grafton (25th place). Early 2020 SCOOP champions Jorryt "TheCleaner11" van Hoof (Event #2-H) and "Fukuruku" (Event #9-H) also came into the day with top 10 stacks, and the entire field was looking up at Day 1 chip leader and Event 2-H runner-up "0m3rta", who entered the day with a sizeable chip lead of 5.48 million, almost double that of second place.

"PapeDeuce" found a double on one of the first hands of the day to set the pace for what would be a final-table run, while others such as Preben "prebz" Stokkan (37th place), Eder "edercampana" Campana (30th place), and Joshua "slayerv1fan" Hoesel (23rd place) all found themselves dry on chips.

"Lackoo87gcb" then gained momentum, earning three knockouts in a 20-minute span to take the chip lead into the final two tables. More than an hour and a half of play then went by with an abundance of all-in scenarios. Some like Leandro "leitalopez" Bustillo (18th place) and Sami "Lrslzk" Kelopuro (16th place) were not as fortunate, while others such as "Leqenden" and "serggorelyi7" found themselves atop the counts when the final table was reached.

Jorryt "TheCleaner11" van Hoof came into the final table third in chips and quickly took the chip lead after getting value with pocket kings against "serggorelyi7." It took half an hour of play before "Isidinho" was eliminated in ninth place, and another half-hour went by before "flippetyflop" bowed out in eighth when their pocket tens ran into the pocket kings of "Leqenden," who claimed the chip lead after winning the pot.

"Lackoo87gcb" and Van Hoof were soon to follow, taking the field down to five. Numerous all-in situations then arose, with every player left in the field except for "Leqenden" finding a double over the next 30 minutes before "0m3rta" could not hold with ace-eight to the king-ten of "Leqenden" to take fifth place. Shortly thereafter, "PapeDuce" busted and just three remained.

Three-handed play saw "chicalltreta" make a better full house than that of "serggorelyi7" to pull into contention, but "serggorelyi7" was the one to take momentum after winning two pots against "Leqenden" to overtake the chip lead.

A series of back-and-forth action saw "Leqenden" regain the chip lead, before "chicalltreta" correctly called off their stack with third pair for their tournament life, leaving "serggorelyi7" short. "serggorelyi7" was able to double and eventually pull almost within even of the other two players, but ultimately got stacks in with king-queen preflop versus the ace-deuce of "Leqenden" and was unable to hit, finishing the tournament in third place.

"Lenqeden" then went into the heads-up match with over 70% of the chips in play and only climbed from there, seemingly winning every pot. No more than 15 minutes went by before stacks got in preflop for "chicalltreta's" remaining chips, with "Leqeden" holding pocket sixes. They held versus the queen-eight of "chicalltreta" and thus secured the victory and the $196,648 that came along with it.
