SCOOP-110-H: $5,200 PLO [6-Max, High Roller], $400K Gtd

Day 1 Completed

Loeliger, Shakerchi Among Final 14 in $5,200 PLO

The money has been reached and the day is done in SCOOP-110-H: $5,200 PLO [6-Max, High Roller], $400K Gtd. As usual in these high rollers, some notable names remain among the final 14 advancing to Day 2 out of 110 entries.

Perhaps of most note is high-stakes cash end boss Linus "LLinusLLove" Loeliger. While Loeliger is best known for his extreme no-limit hold'em prowess, he has been known to dabble in some PLO as well, and he was able to advance with the fifth-place stack after a late slide cost him the chance to finish among the leaders.

The Swiss phenom will be looking to add to a hot run of recent tournament winnings, including a $1.1 million victory in a recent online main event.

Another well-known player advancing was former SCOOP Main Event champ Talal "raidalot" Shakerchi. The high-stakes veteran was at one point the shortest stack following a stint as chip leader. However, he ran his last few blinds up to wind up in the middle of the pack.

No player was able to finish with as many chips on Day 1 as Jean-Francois "bmwmcoupe" Talbot. The Canadian caught fire with two tables left. First, he doubled through "Sira Al Aziz" with ace over kings, all in on a paired low flop. Then, he busted online PLO cash reg Joni "bustoville" Jouhkimainen when Talbot's own kings with a flush draw held against a weaker combo draw.

That was enough to push Talbot up to where he bagged just over 1.5 million, a bit better than five-time SCOOP winner Rui "RuiNF" Ferreira, who finished with 1,378,284.

Play resumes for Day 2 at 2:15 p.m. EDT on Friday with more time remaining at 10,000/20,000. Come back to PokerNews to find out who will claim the $123K that awaits the winner.

Maslak Bubbles Out to End Day 1

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante
A dreamy flop for Boeken.
A dreamy flop for Boeken.

Noah "Exclusive" Boeken opened to 40,000 on the button and Konstantin "krakukra" Maslak potted in the small blind to 140,000. Boeken stuck the last 62K in and Maslak called it off.

Maslak: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Boeken: {q-Spades}{7-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

Boeken all but ended it by flopping a straight as {8-Hearts}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts} hit the board. The {8-Spades} turn and {7-Diamonds} river failed to save Maslak from bubbling.

Talbot Keeps Rolling, Busts Jouhkimainen

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Jean-Francois "bmwmcoupe" Talbot opened for 48,000 under the gun and Joni "bustoville" Jouhkimainen defended his big blind. On the {2-Spades}{7-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop, Jouhkimainen led for pot and Talbot set him in for the last 152K.

Jouhkimainen: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}
Talbot: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{3-Spades}{9-Hearts}

Talbot had a dominating hand with Jouhkimainen's best chance a gutshot straight draw. The {k-Hearts} gave him a live flush draw but the {4-Diamonds} river didn't do it.

Talbot into Seven Figures

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Aces over kings for Talbot.
Aces over kings for Talbot.

Jean-Francois "bmwmcoupe" Talbot three-bet to 146,000 in the big blind after "Sira Al Aziz" opened second to act. Talbot potted the {4-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Sira Al Aziz stuck the last bit in.

Sira Al Aziz: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Talbot: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Spades}

Talbot was in a commanding spot and he secured a double after the {7-Clubs} turn and {j-Hearts} river.

Bujtas Left Short, Busted

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Talal "raidalot" Shakerchi opened for 34,240 under the gun and Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas defended the big blind. Bujtas potted the {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Spades} flop and Shakerchi shoved for about a min-raise.

Bujtas: {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Shakerchi: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

Both had a pair and a wrap but it was Shakerchi on the better end of both. The {2-Clubs} turn didn't matter and the {q-Hearts} river gave Shakerchi the nuts.

Left with a few blinds, Bujtas busted moments later.
