2021 Scoop
2021 Scoop

The 2021 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker blazes on with another highroller PKO. Event SCOOP 64-H: $5,200 NLHE [Progressive KO, Sunday HR SE] promises players a sizable $850,000 guaranteed prize pool. Cards fly at 7:05 p.m. CEST, and players will battle until the final table has been reached.

Players will begin with 100,000 chips in their starting stacks, navigating 20-minute levels for the duration of the tournament. Blinds start at 250/500 with an ante of 60. Day 1 will break when only nine players remain, after which the final table will resume play tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. CEST.

Players can reenter up to two times if they wish during the first four hours and forty minutes of play. As this is a progressive knockout tournament, all players start with a bounty of $2,500 on their heads. Once a player is eliminated, 50% of their bounty will be added to the bounty of the player who knocked them out, and the other half will be deposited to their bankroll.

As they used to say in the biz, don’t touch that dial! PokerNews will keep you apprised of all the Day 1 action from the virtual felt.

Big Pots in the Early Going

Action folded to David "EzPaTuLa" Cabrera, who opened to 1,230 on the button. Jon "luckyfish89" Clark called in the small blind, as did Alexandros "Pwndidi" Theologis in the big.

The flop came down {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{3-Hearts}, and the blinds checked to Cabrera, who continued for 1,334. Only Clark called.

Now heads up, the turn brought the {q-Diamonds}. When checked to, Cabrera fired 5,750, and Clark called again.

The {2-Diamonds} river completed the board. Clark checked, and Cabrera put out 27,507. Clark called.

David Cabrera: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}
Jon Clark: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Clark's top pair was enough to take down a sizable pot versus Cabrera's busted straight draw.

Four-Bet Pot Makes It to the River

Player "despidespi33" opened to 1,320, but Audrius "Stakelis24" Stakelis decided that wasn't enough, three-betting to 4,200 to the player's direct left. Player "skarpet2" opted to four-bet on the button, bumping it up to a cool 12,000. Only Stakelis called.

With about 27,000 chips in the middle, the flop came {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}.

Stakelis checked and skarpet2 continued for 6,724. Stakelis called.

The {k-Hearts} turn paired the board and added a flush draw, and Stakelis again checked to the aggressor, who checked back.

On the {3-Hearts} river, Stakelis bet 22,200 into 40,343, and "skarpet2" quickly folded.

A Tank on the River

Guillaume "Nolet20" Nolet opened to 1,500 from middle position, called only by "hotmark777" in the hijack seat.

The two went heads up to a flop of {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades}. Nolet checked, and "hotmark777" put out 2,340. Nolet called.

The {8-Diamonds} turn paired the board, and Nolet checked again. "Hotmark777" bet 4,800, and Nolet check-raised to 16,800. "Hotmark777" quickly matched it.

The {6-Clubs} paired the board yet again, and Nolet bet 28,235. "Hotmark777" thought for quite some time before eventually deciding on a fold.

Tonkaaaa Goes for Cheap Bounty, Busts

"Milennial" opened to 1,984 from under the gun and saw two calls from the player next to act and middle position. "RaiseUpBlind," with only a fraction of the raise in his stack, called for 388.

Parker "tonkaaaa" Talbot was to the all-in player's direct left and quickly jammed 93,712. "Milennial," the original raiser, re-shoved for 150,382. The players behind folded.

With both "RaiseUpBlind" and Talbot at risk, the board ran out: {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{a-Spades}

"RaiseUpBlind": {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}
Parker "tonkaaaa" Talbot: {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
"milennial": {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

"RaiseUpBlind" flopped a set and held for the triple-up, and "milennial" was awarded Talbot's bounty.

Players Nearly Check Down a Four-Bet Pot

Action folded around to Daniel "Oxota" Dvoress, who opened to 2,760. Anatoly "NL_Profit" Filatov bumped it up 8,424 in the cutoff, and Dvoress responded with a four-bet to 31,320. Filatov called.

Check-check on the {9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop, as well as the {3-Spades} turn, pairing the board.

Dvoress checked a third time when the {10-Clubs} river landed, but Filatov bet about a third of the pot: 21,600. Dvoress quickly called.

Filatov showed {a-Spades}{6-Spades} for two pair and all the chips.

Triplets on the Flop

Jon "apestyles" Van Fleet opened to 4,600 from middle position. Only one caller, "spaise411," came along for a flop.

Three of the deck's jacks hit the virtual felt: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. Van Fleet checked, and "spaise411" put out a bet of 6,000. Van Fleet called.

The turn brought the {9-Spades}, and action went check-check.

After the {10-Spades} landed on the river, Van Fleet quickly bet 23,000, nearly the size of the pot. "Spaise411" considered his options for quite some time before eventually deciding on a call.

Van Fleet showed {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}, second best to "spaise411," who held {4-Hearts}{4-Spades} for a full house.
