Can Anybody Stop Team Lex?

Not only is Veldhuis having a fantastic SCOOP campaign, but his stable of horses in the inaugural SCOOP league is cantering away from Team Spraggy, Tonka, and Fintan.

Four of the top five scoring players in the SCOOP league are on Team Lex. Patrick "pads1161" Leonard (1st - 1,410pts), who won his eighth SCOOP title last week, sits atop the point leaderboard.

"Fal1st" (2nd - 1,400pts) has been doing the heavy lifting for Team Spraggy while Denis "aDrENalin710" Strebkov (3rd - 1,220pts), Jerry "Perrymejsen" Odeen (4th - 1,060pts) and Veldhuis (5th - 965pts) are other main contributors to Team Lex's domination.

Brazil's Kelvin Kerber Completes Impressive 2024 SCOOP Hat Trick

Kelvin Kerber
Kelvin Kerber

Kelvin "Kelvin_FP:AR" Kerber helped himself to his third title of the 2024 PokerStars SCOOP, his eighth victory overall. Kerber, one of Brazil's top poker tournament talents, came out on top in SCOOP 78-H: $5,200 NLHE Progressive KO Titans and walked away with $114,316.

Kerber's latest victory was made sweeter by the caliber of opponents he faced at the final table. Team PokerStars duo Alejandro "[Papo]AR" Lococo and last week's Titans Event champion Lex "L. Veldhuis" Veldhuis were present and correct, but couldn't quite get the job done.

Lococo On Course For a Massive Prize; He's Second in Chips in a $2K Event

Alejandro Lococo
Alejandro Lococo

Alejandro "[Papo]AR" Lococo has done his chances of taking down a 2024 SCOOP event no harm at all by bagging up the second-largest stack in SCOOP 82-H: $2,100 NLHE Progressive KO High Roller.

The tournament had 222 players registered by the time late registration slammed shut, and only 27 of those hopefuls remain. Lococo finished Day 1 with 2,588,805 chips and $9,375 worth of bounties in tow, enough for second place at the restart. First place awards $38,120 plus probably a similar amount, if not more, in bounty payments.

Plenty of superstars are among the final 27, including the aforementioned Kerber (176,080), Joao "Naza114" Vieira (206,479), Andras "probirs" Nemeth (636,354), Bert "girafganger7" Stevens (1,170,314), and chip leader Diego "diesanser" Sanchez (2,735,000). Play resumes at 5:30 p.m. BST on May 21.

"FAL1st" reached yet another SCOOP final table but fell in seventh for $6,655. The Thailand-based superstar's finish earned some much-needed points for Team Spraggy in the SCOOP League.

"mari4ka9510" of Ukraine fell in sixth for $10,973 before "Zanos_Goda" saw their tournament end in a fifth-place finish worth $8,152. We must doff our cap to "Zanos_Goda" because they went on to win the $215 buy-in edition of this event for $13,708.

Patrick "pads1161" Leonard's quest for a ninth SCOOP title ended in a fourth-place finish worth $8,730, with the tournament progressing to eads-up after "RedPh0enix" crashed out in third for $12,009.

Strebkov Bags 17th COOP Title with Victory in SCOOP 89-H: $530 NL 2-7 Single Draw [PKO]

Denis Strebkov
Denis Strebkov

To win one SCOOP title is special. And to win a handful is an incredible feat. Not only has Denis "aDrENalin710" Strebkov bagged his sixth SCOOP title and his second of the year, but he's now up to 17 COOP titles in all — good enough for third all-time.

Strebkov's win came in SCOOP 89-H: $530 NL 2-7 Single Draw, the fourth year this exciting Progressive Knockout format has featured on the SCOOP schedule. He denied "Pislogik" a maiden SCOOP title heads-up, with Joao "Naza114" Vieira (pictured) finishing third.

Nine places were paid from a field of 72, with recent SCOOP winner Narcis "Narcisus90" Nedelcu and Bernardo "bedias" Dias cashing but finishing short of the final table.

Big names "WhatIfGod" and current SCOOP leaderboard leader "FAL1st" also made it to the final table, falling in seventh and fifth respectively.
