The payouts are in for Event #5! The tournament smashed its $50,000 guaranteed prize pool as 757 entries generated a prize pool of $71,915. The top 72 spots will earn a minimum of $230, and the eventual winner on Thursday will take home the top prize of $15,821.
Event #2 runner-up Dan Wagner and Budwey Salhab are the last players to enter the field after buying in with seconds remaining in Level 8. We will have the official numbers and payout information posted as soon as it is made available.
D.J. MacKinnon bagged 39,900 in this morning's flight but he's trying for more tonight. MacKinnon recently decided to ditch his cash game and attempt to build a big stack to take into Day 2.
So far, not so good.
We watched MacKinnon open to 1,800 from middle position and the big blind defend to see a flop. The big blind checked, MacKinnon bet 2,000 and received a call. On the turn action was checked to MacKinnon again and he bet 6.100. His opponent moved in for a little more than twice that amount and MacKinnon tossed in a call.
MacKinnon:
Big Blind:
MacKinnon had eight outs to a straight but didn't connect on the river and was left with 4,100. He shoved the next hand but didn't receive any callers.
Meanwhile at the same table, Josh Knight built his stack from 5,000 to 93,000 and is among the leaders. Mark Roberts and Budwey Salhab are now absent from that table so we can only assume that it was Knight who played executioner.
We've heard there's a bet out there that a player would reach 300,000 in chips in one of the six starting flights of this event. So far the closest is Lam Ngo with 234,000, but anything is possible with tonight's huge field. So what do you think?
