Pete Marino
Pete Marino

Pete Marino had it up over 70,000 before bluffing off a few chips to perennial Seneca Niagara contender Paul McLean with a busted straight draw.

McLean actually called him down with ace-king high and was good.

Things had gone better for Marino up until that point, as he made a straight on one river and a flush on another. Regardless, he still sits among the bigger stacks heading into the late levels and McLean isn't that far behind him.

It's all coming up Mike Rellinger right now.

He's fought back to a healthy 38,000 on the felt, and he's a winner off of it as well.

The tournament staff here at the Niagara Falls Poker Room just collected up the PokerNews ID cards and drew for one of ten pairs of Buffalo Sabres tickets. Players will get one entry for every bullet they fire in all events across the schedule.

Rellinger, who came into play talking about the tickets, was clearly the favorite with the most entries, and to no one's surprise, his card was picked.

Thanks to the Niagara Falls Poker Room, Rellinger is off to see the Sabres now, joining past winners Alex Rivera and Cameron Bartolotta and making three out the past four winners in this completely legitimate random draw, players who are also featured regularly in our live coverage here at Seneca Niagara.

Registration Closed

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

With the registration and re-entry period now closed for this flight, the official number of entries reached 94.

It's a big number considering the morning flight drew 56 today, but with four more starting flights planned over the next two days, it will get even bigger.

To meet the event's $50,000 guarantee the tournament must draw at minimum of 625 entries. With 150 in already, they will need to average close to 119 entries in each of the flights going forward. Considering the track record of the Niagara Falls Power Room when it comes its guarantees, the sharps are betting the over.

David Battaglia
David Battaglia

Here's how David 'Dae Dae' Battaglia rolls:

Dae Dae rolls in right before the break. Dae Dae picks up the {a-Clubs}{9-Spades} in his first hand at the table. Dae Dae open jams it in and gets the loose call from Mike Rellinger on the "let's get lucky" {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

Dae Dae winces when Rellinger flops a king, but smiles after the turn brings the {a-Hearts}. A river brick locks up the double for Dae Dae and he rolls into Level 9 with 30,000.

Break!

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

The players are headed off on a 15-minute break, giving the tournament staff a chance to color up and remove the T-25 green chips.

When the players return for the start of Level 9 the registration and re-entry period will officially close for this flight with four more to come over the next two days.

Leo Kaplin

Buffalo, NY local Leo Kaplin has emerged as the chip leader heading into the second and final break of the day.

"I'm just catching a lot on the river," he told PokerNews, explaining that he had {8-}{8-} hold over {k-}{j-} in one big pot and has climbed close to five times the starting stack thanks to a fair amount of positivity on fifth street.

The board currently reads 90 entries with 54 left and the average stack at 25,000 — Kaplin is pushing close to three times that now.
