Day 1f Completed

Another 33 On To Day 2; Spears Grabs The Overall Lead

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

The sixth and final starting flight for this third event on the 2015 Seneca Fall Poker Classic schedule drew 161 entries at the Niagara Falls Poker Room inside the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino today.

From there, just 33 made it through to the final day of this $50,000 Guaranteed $100 No-Limit Hold'em event, adding to the 87 from the first five flights to make for a total of 120 heading into the 11 a.m. local start time Thursday — Although that number will be smaller, considering some players may have bagged twice and will take only their best stack forward..

A total of 595 entries forced the Niagara Falls Poker Room to dip into the fees to cover a $2,480 overlay and get the prize pool up to the $50,000 guarantee, but they were only too happy to give a little boost to local poker economy. They will pay 45 spots total and the winner gets a nice trophy, PokerNews glory and an $11,750 first-place prize that amounts to a whole lot for a $100 buy-in.

Another nine players built six-figure stacks out of this flight, but it was a massive hand in the last few minutes that put local legend Andy Spears in top position for the flight, and overall.

The 2013 Seneca Fall Poker Classic Main Event champ registered at the last minute and managed to win a 270,000-chip pot with {q-}{q-} against the {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} all in preflop in the last minute of play, with a third player also putting in heaps and folding.

Spears will ride into Day 2 on top now with 286,700.

They will play down from some 120 to a champion tomorrow and PokerNews will be on hand for all the action from start to finish. Tune in at 11 a.m. local time to see how one lucky rounder becomes a 2015 Seneca Fall Poker Classic title holder.

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

They break down some of the massive tax payments the IRS will receive from the November Niners, and discuss the online gaming bill moving swiftly through the Pennsylvania State Legislature.

Scott Aitchison

Fortunes can change fast around the Niagara Falls Poker Room.

Scott Aitchison is out after losing a flip with {a-}{q-} versus pocket jacks. He busted in rather brutal fashion, flopping an ace to take the lead, only to go broke on a river {j-}.

In the meantime, Nick Walker somehow got edged out in the draw for the Sabres tickets with Brian Bartoe strangely sent on a dinner break right before the draw was conducted.

Walker was considering a petition to redraw, but instead, he's run up a few big blinds into 50,000 now into the last two levels of the night.

Buffalo, NY local Dan Bohen looks poised to bag a big stack.

He got it in with a set of ten's versus {a-}{k-} on a gutshot draw and held. Then he flopped the joint all-in three-ways with the {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} versus {8-}{8-} and {a-}{q-} when the flop came {a-}{k-}{q-}.

That held as well, and despite dropping some 30,000 into a pot making two pair against a straight, he's still got a healthy stack heading into the late levels.
