Toronto, Canada's Kevork Garabedian has emerged as the chip leader heading into the late levels.
He tripled up with pocket aces, then busted shorty after shorty when his big hands held to cross into six-figures.
All this while telling anyone who asks that his first name is much like euthanasia activist "Dr. Kevorkian."

Mark Roberts did not win the trophy in this photo, but he did just take down a massive three-way all-in pot to jump into a spot at the top of the counts with 25 players left in this Day 1c flight.
The hand started with a Roberts early-position raise to 1,800. The cutoff called and John Stempien made it 6,100 on the button. The small blind pushed all in for 12,000 and Roberts piled it in for 31,000 behind him. The cutoff called all in for his 27,000, Stempien folded and the cards were flipped on their backs:

Shorty shoved a straight draw on the flop and she was the only caller, having hit a five. The five held, and so did pocket kings in another pot to give her a stack here in Level 8.

Niagara Falls Poker Room regular Art Demmerley flopped a straight, and when his heads-up opponent turned three nines with a straight draw, she was willing to call his all-in shove.
The straight held and heading into the second break of the day, Demmerley has pushed up close to 50,000, making him a contender to bag big in this flight as play moves deep into the second half of the day.
