The Worst Of It

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Tomaz Werstler
Tomaz Werstler

Tomaz Werstler just played a massive pot, hitting top-two pair on a jack-high flop and filling up on the {j-} turn.

His heads-up opponent had the worst of it {j-}{10-} and went broke when the river bricked after getting it with turned trips.

As a result, the Niagara Falls, ON, Canada resident is among the leaders heading into Level 8.

Brett Short

All Brett Short had to do was call when his {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flopped a set on a {5-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} board.

After a little back and forth, his heads-up opponent was only to happy to push in with his {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.

An {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} run out gave Short enough chips to push over 50,000 and into contention now.

More Mike Rellinger

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Mike Rellinger is red hot and closing in on 100,000 already.

He jumped to 90,000 turning a flush against two players each holding a gutshot and a pair. They got it in and Rellinger scooped, collecting two more souls and increasing his lead.

The Mayor Leads

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Mike Rellinger
Mike Rellinger

Mike 'The Mayor' Rellinger is off to the usual start, picking up aces three out of the last four hands and getting paid off because of his ultra-loose image.

The latest stride forward for Rellinger started with two limpers to him in the small blind. He woke up with {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} and made it a whopping 2,300.

The big blind and the limpers did not believe, calling and sending them four ways to the {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop. Rellinger led for 9,000. The big blind shipped it in for more than Rellinger's remaining 17,000-chip stack and after the limpers folded, Rellinger made the call.

The big blind had {a-Spades}{j-Spades}, missed his flush draw on the {4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} run out, and Rellinger now leads.

Into The Break

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Steve Chepurny
Steve Chepurny

Toronto, Canada's Steve Chepurny has emerged as the chip leader heading into the break, grinding it up to 32,000.

The biggest pot he's played so far saw him pick up pocket kings and flop top set on a king-high board. Jacks called one bet, then folded to another, showing them on the turn.

In the meantime, Paul McLean got Steve Rokitka all in on a {Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop. McLean had the {2-Hearts}{2-Spades} for bottom set against Rokitka's {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}, but the {9-Hearts} turn turned things upside down.

Rokitka doubled and McLean was left to rebuild, somehow getting back to 9,300 a couple hands later.

A ten minute break starts now with the first four levels done.
