Closing in on 100k

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Jimmy Thomson has it up close to 100,000 now after a fortunate river card saved his day.

When one opponent limped in from early position, Thomson raised it up. She then jammed in with {k-}{q-} and he called with {6-}{6-}.

A queen in the window and a king on the turn made Thomson's opponent two pair, but a six on the river gave him a set, the knockout and a free ride up near the top of the chip counts.

Nablo Ruins Davis

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Rob Davis decided to push all in on a {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop for a little over 10,000 and Jason Nablo made what appeared to make a crying call with {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for top pair.

Nablo would need to fade Davis' {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} open-ender and did so on the {k-Spades} turn and {3-Hearts} river to climb the counts and send Davis home early.

The players are off on a 15-minute break with eight full levels now in the books.

Ciffa Shoves Blind

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

A short stacked Joe Ciffa told his table he was planning to shove blind the very next hand. Nicholas Goetz didn't get the memo and raised it up in front of him.

Ciffa shoved and had to ask.

"Didn't you hear I said I was shoving blind?" he asked.

"No," ansewred Goetz. "I guess in that case I call."

It was Goetz' {a-Spades}{10-Hearts} versus Ciffa's {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and Goetz held on an {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} run out.

Saffron Suffers Suck Out

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Todd Saffron
Todd Saffron

Todd Saffron could not sustain the hot start he got here in this flight and has now said goodbye after a relatively bad beat.

He got his chips in holding {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} on a {q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop against James Miller's {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and looked good to double before the {k-Spades} turn was revealed, giving Miller two pair. The {9-Spades} river was no help to Saffron and he exited the room as Miller climbed the counts.

Rick Block

Rick Block is building a contending stack here into Level 8.

According to Block a lot of the chips came courtesy of his buddy Jason Zawacki, who shoved a flush draw into his flopped set and failed to get there.
