Day 1c Completed

Thirty-Three Bag on Day 1c!

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Blake Napierala

The 2015 Seneca Niagara Falls Summer Slam continued at the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel poker room today with the third of four starting flights for Event #1, a $200 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament featuring 30-minute levels, 15,000-chip starting stacks, and a $50,000 guarantee.

This third flight was the biggest so far, drawing a total of 175 entries, but just 33 players survived through 14 levels of play. Blake Napierala grabbed the chip lead after a solid day of play that saw him build a big stack turning {6-}{2-} into a boat, then using it to apply pressure to shorter stacks for the rest of the afternoon. In the end, he bagged a little over 200,000 becoming only the second player headed to Day 2 to manage that so far.

All 33 players will return for Day 2 Sunday at 11 a.m. local time to play down to a champion. They will be joined by the 34 survivors from Friday's first two starting flights and anyone who makes it through 14 levels of play from one more that began at 6 p.m. local time this evening.

PokerNews' Live Coverage of this event will continue with the fourth and final starting flight now halfway through Level 3.

Three More Hands!

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

A draw has been conducted to determine how many more hands the remaining players will play before bagging up. The number is three.

Good, Bad and Ugly

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

A bad beat finally did Shamel Thomas in moments ago. Facing an opening raise, Thomas shoved his last 13,500 in with {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}.

It took a minute, but the opening raiser made the call with {3-Spades}{2-Spades}. The {5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} flop made Thomas a set, but the {A-Clubs} turn gave his opponent a gutshot straight draw. Sure enough, the {4-Hearts} river completed it, and Thomas hit the rail.

Aitchison Climbing

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Scott Aitchison is rolling now having moved up close to the 100,000-chip mark thanks to a big blind special.

He made two pair out of {j-}{2-} and got one opponent to commit all his chips with a turned pair and a flush draw. A brick on the river helped vault Aitchison up the leader board and into contention.

The Forbes List

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Rob Forbes
Rob Forbes

The list of players Rob Forbes has busted continues to grow as he just claimed another victim and moved into the top spot on the leader board.

This time he called a preflop raise with {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, then did the same when his heads-up opponent shipped it in on a {7-}{5-}{4-} flop. Forbes' opponent held {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} but he wouldn't need to hit his gutshot to do him in as the {A-Spades} turn and {A-Diamonds} river made him trip aces.
