This Round To McLean

Level 9 : 400/800, 75 ante

Although Paul McLean has seen his chip stack plummet his heavyweight tilt with Peter Raimondi goes on.

In this latest round, Raimondi was the only caller of McLean's 2,200-chip preflop raise. Both checked the {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{10-Clubs} flop, but when the {a-Spades} turn was put down on the felt, McLean led out for 3,500.

Raimondi called an the river came the {4-Diamonds}, prompting McLean to fire away again, making it 6,500. Raimondi gave it some thought, but decided to fold, handing this round to McLean.

Peperone Sticks It In

Level 9 : 400/800, 75 ante

DJ MacKinnon made it 1,600 and Nick Peperone fired in his short stack of some 7,475 chips.

MacKinnon wasted little time making the call with {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} but was behind Peperone's {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}.

"Yay! Ten big blinds," exclaimed Peperone, after the {9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} board rolled out ensuring the double up.

Mueller vs. Moeller

Level 9 : 400/800, 75 ante

Johannes Mueller is "dangerous" again, according to tablemate Andy Spears, after Mueller doubled up moments ago.

On a board of {Q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, Mueller checked to tournament chip leader Pat Moeller, who bet 2,500. Action was back on Mueller and he shoved for around 15,000. After getting a count, Moeller called.

Mueller: {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}
Moeller: {K-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

Mueller was in front with his top pair and it held up through the {8-Diamonds} river.

Just a Little Bit

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Nick Walker's title defense is going swimmingly well so far as the rest of his table is giving him tons of respect.

Moments ago he picked up a pot uncontested with an early position raise. Then he got a walk in the big blind.

The very next hand one player limped and Walker completed the small blind. The big blind checked his option and they went three-handed to a {q-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop. It checked around.

Walker fired out a bet of 1,400 at the {5-Hearts} turn and only the limper called before the {5-Diamonds} river was revealed.

Walker then took another shot at it, betting 4,000 and his opponent passed.

Missed Opportunity for Thomas

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Andy Spears was happy to relay a hand in which he made quads and was fortunate to come away with the pot.

With two limpers in front, Spears raised preflop with {10-}{10-}. Thomas was next to act behind and folded. The other two players called, bringing a flop of {6-Spades}{7-Spades}{10-}. Spears bet and both players came along to see the {10-Spades} hit the turn, giving Spears quads and the second nuts. He went on to win the pot, of course, but things would've gotten interesting had Thomas called before the flop. Thomas claimed to have folded the {8-Spades}{9-Spades} preflop, allowing Spears to escape disaster.

The Rematch

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Peter Raimondi and Paul McLean continue to tangle over on Table 12.

This latest hand started with a 1,500 early position open from McLean. Raimondi was one of three callers heading to the {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop, but the only one to follow up when McLean bet 1,500 again.

The turn brought the {4-Spades} and when McLean checked, Raimondi took control of the betting with a 4,000-chip shot.

McLean called and checked the {6-Diamonds} river. Raimondi fired again, making it 6,000. McLean called and mucked when Raimondi turned over {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for two pair.
