Meeting That Guarantee

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

The Seneca Niagara Poker Room has put up a $75,000 guarantee for the first time ever for their kickoff event, with the previous prize pool holding a $50,000 guarantee. The buy-in has jumped from $200 to $300 and has been well-received so far.

As of this third level, there are 75 entries with five levels to go before registration closes. With a total of four flights, there is no doubt this opening tournament is set to crush the guarantee, with 283 entries needed to meet it.

The second flight of the day is slated to begin at 6:00PM, with late registration closing at 10:25PM.

There is plenty of time to plan a trip out here, with Day 1B beginning tomorrow at 10:00AM with another two flights.

Randy Pfeifer Chips Up

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Randy Pfeifer is no stranger in these parts, with multiple wins right here at Seneca Niagara Casino. He has just shy of $2,000,000 in live cashes, with an impressive fourth place finish in the 2015 WSOP $1,500 Millionaire Maker for just over $440,000.

Pfeifer raised to 300 from under the gun and was called by the button and the big blind. The flop came {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. The big blind checked, and Pfeifer quickly bet 1,025. The button folded, and the big blind called.

The turn was the {7-Hearts}. This time, the big blind led out for 1,500. Pfeifer called.

The river was the {6-Spades}. The big blind opted to check this time, and Pfeifer thought for a moment before betting 1,200. His opponent went into the tank for about a minute before tossing out a single chip, indicating a call. Pfeifer tabled {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and the big blind mucked.

Robert Mitchell Sets His Opponent Up

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

With about 2,000 in the pot already, Robert Mitchell was able to get his entire stack in the middle with bottom set.

The board read {J-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}, and Mitchell snap-called with {3-Spades}{3-Clubs} after his opponent shoved with {4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {9-Hearts}, and the river was the {q-Clubs}, sending the chips to Mitchell and his opponent to the rail.

Another player at the table said, "Wow. Bottom pair with a four kicker. That's unbelievable with all that preflop action."

2016 Seneca Fall Poker Classic Kicks Off With $300 No-Limit Hold'em!

Seneca Niagara Hotel & Casino
Seneca Niagara Hotel & Casino

For most, the Fall represents cooler temperatures, multi-colored leaves and the hope that Winter is far in the distance. At Seneca Niagara Casino, the Fall means another Poker Classic is about to begin with more intense action each year.

The 2016 Seneca Fall Poker Classic kicks off today with a bigger buy-in and a bigger guarantee! Last year's first event featured a $200 entry with a $50,000 guarantee. This year, the Niagara Falls Poker Room has upped the ante and the buy-in will be $300 with a whopping $75,000 in the prize pool.

This room has a reputation for bringing in the area's toughest competition while attracting players from near and far, smashing guarantees with four flights across two starting days. The morning flights kick off at 10:00AM, with the evening flights getting started at 6:00PM.

Players will start the day with 15,000 in tournament chips and 30-minute levels throughout the starting flights, with play increasing to 40-minute levels on Day 2.

Registration, with unlimited re-entries, will be open for eight levels - approximately 2:25PM for the morning flights, and 10:25PM for the evening flights.

Play will complete at the end of Level 14, or when 12% of the field remains, whichever comes first.

As was the case last year, players who choose to fire multiple levels are able to bring forward their largest stack heading into Day 2 on Sunday at 11:00AM.

Last year's winner, Kristan Mackiewicz, took down the first event with a prize pool of almost $100,000. Look for her and all of Western New York's grinders among the field this weekend as PokerNews brings you live updates from start to finish!
