Ciffa Out, Final 10 Set

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Blake Napierala limped the button and after Chris Harker folded the small blind, Joe Ciffa checked his option.

The flop came down {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and Ciffa shoved in for 270,000. Napierala took a lot of time before making the call with the {q-Spades}{j-Spades}. Ciffa was on the {q-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flush draw.

The {a-Spades} turn and {6-Clubs} river could not save Ciffa and with ten players remaining, they are combing at one, single, solitary, final table.

Bodnar Has It

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Anthony Tavolino just refused to believe Peter Bodnar had anything when he shoved 360,000 into a 500,000-chip pot.

The board was nine-high to the turn and Tavolino called with a pair of fives.

Bodnar didn't have anything, he had everything, or at least enough. He had pocket aces and they held after the river bricked.

Pachla Picked Off, Clark Cut

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Alicia LaPorte Pachla
Alicia LaPorte Pachla

Jeffrey Roth made it 57,000 and Mark Roberts called before Alicia LaPorte Pachla shoved the small blind for 108,000.

Two calls meant it went three ways to a {j-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop with Pachla all in. Roth checked, Roberts bet, and Roth folded. Turned out Roberts' {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} flopped Broadway and Pachla's {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} needed a runner-runner miracle or an ace to chop.

Neither came and they were down to 12 with Roberts leading the way.

Then, Jason Clark ran {a-}{j-} into Peter Bodnar's {a-}{k-}, leaving 11 left.

Two Fall, Action Aplenty

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Fabrizio Buonaguro ran a weak ace into chip leader Anthony Koch's queens and said goodbye.

In the meantime, Mark Roberts got it in with ace-king and double big through Peter Bodnar, spiking an ace on the turn against his queens.

Joe Ciffa spazzed off with {7-}{4-} on a seven-high flop against Mike Latour's pocket kings, but he went runner-runner for a straight to leave Latour short. The defending champ went out the very next hand.

Plus, David Battaglia suddenly pulled out a few hundred thousand in green 25k chips from the back of his stack and actually has 700,000.

Quinn Felted

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Justin Quinn nursed a ten-big blind stack for a while before finally relenting and getting it in with the {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}.

Unfortunately for him, David Battaglia woke up with the {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and called. No ace, no surprises, no more Quinn, and they are down to 15 heading into Level 22.

Braverman Bold, But Busts

Steve Braverman
Steve Braverman

A nice run by Steve Braverman has just come to an end.

He boldly jammed the river of a {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} board and could only muck when heads-up opponent Kevin Hetzer made the call with the {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

Braverman's exit leaves 16 players now.

Martin Out, Koch Extends

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Jeremy Martin
Jeremy Martin

Jeremy Martin shoved for 96,000 over a Jeffrey Roth limp and Anthony Koch quickly called in the big blind.

Roth was a little slower about it, but called as well. They checked down a {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{9-Spades} board until the {a-Diamonds} river, where Koch bet 100,000.

Roth folded and Martin showed {a-}{6-}. Unfortunately for him, Koch had the {a-}{9-} aces up and took it down.

They are down to 17 now.
