The curtains have drawn on the first-ever SiGMA Poker Tour festival being held at the Monte Carlo Poker Club in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The $770 Main Event was the main attraction following the SiGMA gaming conference that took place earlier in the week. There was no shortage of entertainment throughout the series and everyone was able to walk with a five-star experience.

It was a dominant performance from Deddi Orpaz who entered the final table as the chip leader and finished things off in a timely matter, capturing his second career title and earning $58,700 in the process. Orpaz outlast a field of 293 entries over the course of five starting flights and finally took down Jacques Blit from Argentina in a rather quick heads-up match.

The Israeli native was very proud to come out on top of such a stellar field, mostly filled with Brazilians, and lay claim to another five-figure payday. "I actually came here for the SiGMA convention and my son's company got an award," Orpaz mentioned in a post-victory interview. "We took the first award as a small Israeli group and my son told me 'you have to take another award' so that's what I did."

While Orpaz was very proud to announce where he was from after winning the last hand of the tournament, he was quick to mention at how great of an experience he's had in Brazil and at the SiGMA Poker Tour. "I'm feeling great, not because of the title. Because of the people. The people in Brazil, I find out that they're always happy. You can name whatever casino that you want in Europe, I was there. The United States from Atlantic City to Los Angeles, I never got service like here."

Final Table Action

Despite Orpaz coming into the day as the chip leader, it didn't last very long thanks to the hot start from Blit. Coming in near the middle of the pack, Blit made an early move up the leaderboard by picking up chips in three of the first four hands. Moments later, he found himself on the right side of the ultimate cooler when his pocket aces bested Edson Onofre's pocket kings for the chip lead.

Onofre managed to pick up one ladder, however, since Marcelo Lopes became the first casualty in a blind-vs-blind matchup with Wilson Paiva. Multiple players were grinding a stack of around 10 big blinds just trying to outlast one another for the pay jumps. The cards had more to say though when Joao Leao put himself at risk with king-queen against Orpaz's ace-ten. A complete nothing board was dealt across the felt and Leao was ousted in seventh place.

Cristhian Rico entered the final table as the clear short stack but also picked up a couple of early pots without having to go to showdown which allowed him to watch the chaos unfold around him. That was until Paiva moved all in first and Rico was sitting in the distance with pocket jacks. Despite it being a coin flip, Rico held on and Paiva was next to hit the payout desk. That left the only woman at the table on the short stack and the cards just didn't roll in Samara Alexandre's favor today. Alexandre picked up a suited ace but it was match for the ace-queen of Rico who sent another one packing.

Erik Marasco was one of the chip leaders after the Day 1 flights and seemed to coast through Day 2 without much altercation. That was the case today as Marasco barely got involved in any of the action. After being blinded out throughout the day, he finally took his chance with some suited cards but Blit ran out a flush to bring the field down to three. It appeared at one point that things could drag on for a bit, but Orpaz said no to that when he was willing to gamble for a healthy portion of his stack with queen-jack suited. Rico found himself in a dominating position with ace-jack but by the turn, Orpaz had too many outs. One of those outs came in the result of a flush on the river and Rico exited in devastating fashion.

Orpaz and Blit took a couple of minutes to discuss a potential deal but both players wanted the money and the trophy, thus no deal was made. Each player had a healthy stack in front of them but once again Orpaz was not going to let this drag on. In the last hand of the night, Orpaz flopped a combo draw and open-ripped all in. Blit was waiting with top pair and that was good enough for him to put the rest of his chips in the middle. Once again, Orpaz rivered the best hand with another flush and the celebration on.

"Thank you! First-place winner from Israel!" Orpaz shouted with his hands in the air.

That wraps up the coverage from the very first SiGMA Poker Tour stop here in Sao Paulo. Keep an eye on more SiGMA Poker Tour events coming up this year along with all of the coverage on PokerNews.
