It was an extravagant grand opening for the SiGMA Poker Tour Brazil last night which saw a total of 61 entries recorded for the first of five flights in the $770 Main Event. The doors opened to the Monte Carlo Poker Club and fun was had by all while the cards were pitched on the felt over the course of 10 hours. Just seven players managed to scathe their way to the end and bag chips to advance to Day 2 on Sunday.
Today is time for the second flight, Day 1b, of the Main Event that is set to get underway at 2 p.m. local time. The poker club is expected to get busier as the weekend nears which means the action will start to intensify. It was Christian Rico who bagged the largest stack last night with a whopping 483,000 chips, from a starting stack of just 30,000.
A couple of ladies joined him near the top of the leaderboard, including SiGMA Poker Tour ambassador Drea Karlsen from Norway. The poker pro was at or near the top of the chip counts for much of the night in an impressive showing at the first stop on the SiGMA Poker Tour. Karlsen went on to finish the night with 335,000 along with Samara Alexandre who also bagged an impressive 302,000 chips.
Heading into Day 1b, other SiGMA Poker Tour ambassadors John Arne Riise and Lukas Robinson will hope to turn their fortunes around with a deep run in hopes of reaching the money on Day 2. The action is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m. and there is likely to be no lack of entertainment to get the players ready for the festivities. A starting stack of 30,000 chips will be given to each player with the blinds starting at 100/200 and increasing every 30 minutes.
There will be a 15-minute break after every four levels with an extended break slotted in at some point for a bite to eat. Late registration will remain open until the end of level 10 and each player will have the opportunity of two reentries per flight. They will once again be playing down to 15% of the unique players recorded for this flight.
To note, there will also be a turbo flight running this evening at 8 p.m. local time where the blinds will be 20-minute levels. The PokerNews live reporting team will be on site to cover all of the action from Day 1b which will be running throughout the day so stay tuned for all of the updates.

Just over 30 players have joined the action for the start of Day 1b in the opening couple of levels.
There was a raise to 700 on the button and Miguel Pedro defended from the big blind. The flop fell 10♥7♠4♣ and both players checked to the K♠ on the turn.
Pedro led out with a bet of 1,000 this time and his opponent called to see the J♥ on the river. Pedro opted to check this time and his opponent checked it back. Pedro showed 8♣6♥ for a missed straight draw while his opponent held K♥5♣ for top pair.

Jacques Blit opened to 900 from under the gun and was called by Renato Reginatto on the button and Rogerio Taboza in the big blind. The flop came Q♣J♥4♥ and Blit continued with a bet of 1,500. Reginatto quickly folded and Taboza called.
The turn was the 9♦ and both players checked to the K♠ on the river. Taboza checked for the third time and Blit fired out a bet of 2,100. Taboza snapped him off and Blit tabled A♥3♥ for a missed flush draw. Taboza showed J♠10♣ for a straight and was awarded the pot.

Fernando Macedo opened to 1,000 in early position and picked up two callers along the way. The flop fell J♠10♠3♥ and Maurren Maggi led out with a bet of 1,000 from the big blind. Macedo called as did the button.
The turn was the 9♥ and Maggi fired out another bet of 1,000. Both players still called and the Q♥ landed on the river. The action checked around and Maggi tabled 10♣4♣ for a pair of tens. Macedo turned over A♠8♠ for a flopped flush draw that rivered a straight for the win.

Marco Dutra opened to 1,000 in early position and Alexandre Couto three-bet to 3,500 from a couple of seats over. Anthony Temperine four-bet to 8,500 on the button and the action folded back to Couto who five-bet jammed all in for 20,000, prompting a quick fold from Temperine.
Next door, Lukas Robinson raised to 1,200 from under the gun and was called by Marcelo Torii in middle position. Feliks Saakyan three-bet to 4,200 in the cutoff which got Robinson to fold. Torii contemplated for a moment and then four-bet to 16,200 which got Saakyan to dump his cards in the muck.
