Day 1de Started
After two completed days of the $770 Main Event on the SiGMA Poker Tour Brazil stop being held at the prestigious Monte Carlo Poker Club, a total of 158 entries have been recorded in this $250,000 guaranteed prizepool event. There is still a ways to go to reach the guarantee but tournament staff are hopeful with at least another two starting flights on the schedule for today.
Last night, Daria Krashennikova crushed her competitors en route to an overwhelming chip lead, bagging up a stack 771,000 chips. Heading into Day 2 on Sunday, Krashennikova will be joined by the likes of SiGMA Poker Tour ambassadors Lukas Robinson (146,000) and Drea Karlsen (335,000) and Day 1a chip leader Christian Rico (483,000).
Thus far, a total of 19 players have made it through to Day 2 and have guaranteed themselves a portion of the prizepool and a chance to play for the title. With a bolstering guarantee of $250,000 set on this event, the tournament would require roughly 200 more entries today in order to reach that amount. It will be something to keep an eye on as the day unfolds on whether that guarantee will be met.
As for Day 1d, the cards are scheduled to go in the air at an eye-awakening 11 a.m. this morning, or as they say in Brazil, the crack of dawn. Players will sit down with a starting stack of 30,000 chips with the blinds beginning at 100/200. The levels will be 30 minutes throughout with a 15-minute break after every four levels.
Late registration will remain open until the end of level 10 with players being allowed to reenter each flight an additional two times. The action will continue until just 15% of the unique entries remain, at which point they will bag and tag for Day 2. There will also be another turbo flight running this evening at 8 p.m. local time with the potential of a hyper-turbo flight also accommodating any late stragglers rolling in.
The PokerNews live reporting team will be back on the tournament floor to bring you all of the updates throughout the day as well as any information on whether the guaranteed prizepool will be reached.

It appears that it's a little too early for Brazilians to play some poker with only five players taking their seats to get things started. Among them is SiGMA Poker Tour ambassador John Arne Riise who is looking to find a bag for Day 2 tomorrow.
Junior Ferreira opened to 400 from under the gun and John Arne Riise called in the cutoff. Denis Nagatoma reraised to 2,500 on the button and only Riise called. They went heads-up to a flop of 7♥5♣4♣ and Riise check-called a bet of 2,000 from Nagatoma.
The 7♦ paired the board on the turn and both players checked to the K♥ on the river. Riise put together a bet of 6,500 and Nagatoma gave it some thought but decided to fold. Riise threw his 10♣9♣ face up into the middle as he was awarded the pot.

There was a raise to 600 in early position and three players just flat-called. Rogerio Taboza seized the opportunity and made a large three-bet to 4,300 out of the small blind. A couple of the players deliberated for a moment but eventually, all folded and Taboza collected the pot without seeing any community cards.

In a three-bet pot, Luciano Helipa and Marcelo Abrileri went heads-up to a flop of 9♥8♦6♣. Helipa led out with a bet of 3,600 in the cutoff and Abrileri called on the button.
The turn brought the K♥ and both players checked to the 7♥ on the river. Helipa flicked in a bet of 5,500 and Abrileri matched him. Helipa rolled over 9♠9♦ for a set of nines while Abrileri was left with J♠J♣ and the losing hand.

Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading Q♠10♠2♣10♣, a pot of around 15,000 was already created between three players. On the turn, John Arne Riise found himself at risk for around 9,000 and was up against German Morte who had around 12,000. The big stack at the table had both players covered and all three hands were tabled.
John Arne Riise: 10♥8♦
German Morte: 2♥2♦
Opponent: 10♦9♦
Morte flopped a set of deuces which turned into a full house on the turn. The turn also gave both of his opponents trip tens and were still looking to improve on the river. The river was the 4♦ and Morte held on to eliminate Riise and emerge as the early chip leader.
