Three All-Ins Conclude Day 1b With Kossew Coming Up Short

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Jedd Kossew
Jedd Kossew

In the first hand coming back from the break, Jedd Kossew jammed first to act for around 110,000. He was looked up by Colin Horgan via reshove, while Giovanni Zanette was hoping for some aces in the big blind. He glanced at the cards, sighed and even used one of the time banks while saying "why are you doing this to me?" before he folded.

Jedd Kossew: A10 All in
Colin Horgan: AK

The board ran out 62279 and the kicker played to deny Kossew a berth on Day 2 for now.

Over on table 14, Saurabh Gulati got his short stack in after the Td4c3c] flop and Jaryd Jardien called.

Saurabh Gulati: K10 All in
Jaryd Jardien: J10

The A turn and 6 river changed nothing, Gulati doubled and fist-pumped for a second.

Last but not least, Russel Wheatley and Alvin Pillay had multi-way action with a flop bet to the KQ97A river. Wheatley pushed all-in and Pillay specifically said he knew that Wheatley "has nothing" to then fold the JJ. And guess what ... Wheatley showed the 85 for eight-high and a missed gutshot.

That's a wrap for tonight, full counts and the recap are to follow!

Dormehl Crashes Out Against Weissman; Zanette Bounces Back

Level 14 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Leonard Dormehl
Leonard Dormehl

Leonard Dormehl limped in from under the gun and Joey Weissman raised to 23,000 from the small blind for Dormehl to call. On the Q87 flop, Weissman continued for 35,000 and Dormehl used one time bank before pushing all-in for what appeared to be around 180,000.

Weissman called and had the best of it.

Leonard Dormehl: J10 All in
Joey Weissman: AQ

The 6 turn and Q river were blanks and Dormehl crashed out in 21st place, while Weissman soared to a top three stack for tonight.

Before the level then ended, Giovanni Zanette scored a full double through Jedd Kossew. He "got tired of folding" and flushed out against a set of queens to send Kossew back to the drawing board.

Adam Eliminated by Tin Fook

Level 14 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Rayhaan Adam
Rayhaan Adam

Jaryd Jardien raised to 15,000 from the hijack and Rayhaan Adam three-bet to 36,000 from the next seat. Gilbert Tin Fook called on the button, Jardien came along and checked the 865 flop. Adam jammed for around 100,000 and was snapped off by Tin Fook, while Jardien folded.

Rayhaan Adam: AQ All in
Gilbert Tin Fook: AK

Adam sighed, said "well done" and was in very rough shape. The 5 turn left him drawing dead to make the 10 river a formality.

Jardien made up for the lost chips right after by taking a chunk out of Saurabh Gulati's stack.

Brauer Busts After Clash With Courtney

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Ryan Brauer
Ryan Brauer

With two spades until the turn and the K making an appearance on the river, Stephen Courtney check-called for 50,000 out of the big blind. His opponent was Ryan Brauer, who flipped over the A10 for a bluff with the nut flush blocker.

Courtney showed 84 and Brauer sighed in agony.

He was then forced all-in two hands later with Rajeev Poonhath in the small blind and Alvin Pillay coming along. They checked the KJ8 flop, invested the minimum on the 7 turn and checked the 5 river.

Poonhath showed J3, Brauer flashed the Q first and peeled the 2 only to bust.

In the meanwhile, Colin Horgan has been terrorising table 15 to nearly close the gap to chip leader Matthew Whitelaw.

Down to the Last 24 Players

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Joey Weissman
Joey Weissman

Hennie Appel pushed all-in for 50,000 from under the gun and Rajeev Poonhath three-bet to 100,000 in the next seat. It folded around to Joey Weissman in the small blind and he moved all-in, Poonhath quickly called.

Hennie Appel: Q9 All in
Joey Weissman: AK All in
Rajeev Poonhath: KK

Weissman's hot run today continued with the AJ2510 runout as he knocked out Appel and doubled through Poonhath for 175,000.

Moments later, Jamie McCarthy was sent to the rail by Colin Horgan and the field was brought down to the last 24 contenders.

Horgan Busts One; Loses an All-In

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Dave Nundloll
Dave Nundloll

Russel Wheatley jammed with his short stack and Muaaz Gani went over the top.

The A7 of Wheatley were ahead versus A5 and earned a double on the 1073J8 runout.

Dave Nundloll then busted against Colin Horgan when he made a move on the A6932 board and couldn't beat the QQ of the Irishman. He sent the cards into the muck and never showed, leaving the tournament area swiftly.

Horgan was barely done stacking the chips when Teren Ramnundlall got it in against him with 77 versus A6. The 1082Q9 board changed nothing and Ramnundlall doubled.

Latest Counts and Casualties

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Table 15 has been short-handed after the departure of Renier Britz, while Colin Horgan jumped to a big stack. The feature table lost Reza de Bruyn to Jaryd Jardien, while Alvin Pillay chipped up against Joey Weissman on the outer tables.

On the heads-up turn of A1034, Pillay check-called for 18,000 and they checked the 7 river. Pillay only had the 63 for the bottom pair but it was good enough.

Nellie Park jammed a short stack from an early position and was called by Werner Smit out of the small blind.

Werner Smit: 99

The dominated pair found no escape on the KJ8AK runout and that spelled the end for Park. Lauren Piha had also been eliminated from the feature table not long ago.

Zanette Sends Richards Packing

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Jehan Richards
Jehan Richards

On a heads-up flop of Q85, Jehan Richards as well as Giovanni Zanette got near identical stacks into the middle with Richards as the player at risk.

Jehan Richards: A6 All in
Giovanni Zanette: 55

The K turn was a blank, as was the J river. Richards asked if he was covered and Zanette was pretty sure that wasn't the case. However, when the stacks were counted, Zanette had 98,000 and that covered his opponent by a few blinds.

"Sorry, I am colour blind. I thought you had three blue chips," Zanette apologised from the other side of the table.

Double Knockout for Whitelaw Creates New Chip Leader

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Matthew Whitelaw
Matthew Whitelaw

Matthew Whitelaw was building a castle of sorts after many chips had been pushed to him, with two opponents hitting the rail. The chips were a mess and Sugen Singh told him to make it more neatly in twenties, which Whitelaw then prepared on doing.

On a board of AA7KJ, the KK of Whitelaw had turned kings full of jacks and it was good enough to knock out Mariette Language with the 66 and Harold Brooks, who still had KQ exposed.
