Down to the Last 24 Players

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Joey Weissman
Joey Weissman

Hennie Appel pushed all-in for 50,000 from under the gun and Rajeev Poonhath three-bet to 100,000 in the next seat. It folded around to Joey Weissman in the small blind and he moved all-in, Poonhath quickly called.

Hennie Appel: Q9 All in
Joey Weissman: AK All in
Rajeev Poonhath: KK

Weissman's hot run today continued with the AJ2510 runout as he knocked out Appel and doubled through Poonhath for 175,000.

Moments later, Jamie McCarthy was sent to the rail by Colin Horgan and the field was brought down to the last 24 contenders.

Horgan Busts One; Loses an All-In

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Dave Nundloll
Dave Nundloll

Russel Wheatley jammed with his short stack and Muaaz Gani went over the top.

The A7 of Wheatley were ahead versus A5 and earned a double on the 1073J8 runout.

Dave Nundloll then busted against Colin Horgan when he made a move on the A6932 board and couldn't beat the QQ of the Irishman. He sent the cards into the muck and never showed, leaving the tournament area swiftly.

Horgan was barely done stacking the chips when Teren Ramnundlall got it in against him with 77 versus A6. The 1082Q9 board changed nothing and Ramnundlall doubled.

One Way to Play Pocket Jacks

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Gilbert Tin Fook, Saurabh Gulati and Dhinesh Soopramanien limped in. Didier Mery then pushed all-in for around 160,000 and that left the first limper somewhat stunned. Tin Fook folded, as did Gulati, and Soopramanien folded the 77 and Mery showed his JJ.

The dealer was confused at first whether or not there would be a showdown before all the cards were mucked and Mery won the hand uncontested.

"You know I have the habit to limp aces?" Tin Fook asked Mery in French.

Kramer Runs Bad in Two Hands

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Alvin Pillay
Alvin Pillay

Darren Kramer three-bet to 30,000 and then called the four-bet shove by Alvin Pillay with the KK. Pillay only had AK but spiked a double for 104,000 thanks to the AQ4J8 runout.

Muaaz Gani was then all-in with A10 against the 66 of Kramer soon after. The 862 flop left Gani on the ropes but the 3 turn and A river saved Gani with a split pot.

Wheatley Flops A Straight to Spin

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Russel Wheatley
Russel Wheatley

Ryan Brauer raised to 7,000 and Russel Wheatley then jammed for the last 12,000 in the next seat. Darren Kramer reraised to 30,000 and it forced out everyone else including Brauer.

"You are way ahead," Wheatley said as he tabled the 64. Kramer had the 5QcQd] but the table burst into laughter when the 753 flop provided Wheatley with a straight. No upset followed with the 10 turn and 2 river for Wheatley to stay in contention.

One table over, Saurabh Gulati tangled with Dhinesh Soopramanien on the 983 flop. The former bet 16,000 and the latter raised to 50,000 on the button, forcing out Didier Mery. Gulati tank-folded and exposed the 9, Soopramanien allowed him to show the A3 for bottom pair and nut flush draw.

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Carlos Morais
Carlos Morais

Carlos Morais got his chips in with the KK and chip leader Matthew Whitelaw looked him up holding the JJ. The board ran out J5492 and that spelled the end for Morais to bring the field down to the last 27 hopefuls.

In the meanwhile, Russel Wheatley had lost all but the last 2,000 chips to Darren Kramer, then tripled up to stay in for a miracle comeback.

Latest Counts and Casualties

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Table 15 has been short-handed after the departure of Renier Britz, while Colin Horgan jumped to a big stack. The feature table lost Reza de Bruyn to Jaryd Jardien, while Alvin Pillay chipped up against Joey Weissman on the outer tables.

On the heads-up turn of A1034, Pillay check-called for 18,000 and they checked the 7 river. Pillay only had the 63 for the bottom pair but it was good enough.

Nellie Park
Nellie Park

Nellie Park jammed a short stack from an early position and was called by Werner Smit out of the small blind.

Nellie Park: 44 All in
Werner Smit: 99

The dominated pair found no escape on the KJ8AK runout and that spelled the end for Park. Lauren Piha had also been eliminated from the feature table not long ago.
