Horgan Back With a Boost; Nortje Gets a Shove Through

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Aidan Jacobs bet the Q827 turn for 7,000 and Muaaz Gani reluctantly folded. Gani was shortly after eliminated by Colin Horgan, who had sat down for the first hand in the big blind to send the Gani to the rail.

Ashley Hira and Mariette Language joined the rail while Marko Nortje avoided the same fate for now. In a multi-way pot to the 982 flop, Nortje jammed for 18,500 in the small blind. Leonard Dormehl, Didier Mery and Rudolf Fourie all folded and Nortje flashed the 63 after Fourie had declared he can't call with six-high.

Brooks Gets Some River Value

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

With the completed board showing 883QK, Howard Brooks made it 3,600 to go. He was reluctantly called by his table neighbour and Brooks revealed the AK as the winning hand to get back to six figures.

Courtney Sends Berlin to the Rail

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Stephen Courtney
Stephen Courtney

Devid Berlin limped from under the gun and called a raise to 3,000 by Stephen Courtney in the next seat. On the A103 flop, Berlin check-called a bet and they checked the 9 turn to the J river. Berlin now bet 10,000 with around 15,000 behind and he called all-in to the shove by Courtney.

The 33 of Courtney for bottom set were good to score the knockout, as Berlin's AJ had flopped top pair and made two pair on the river.

Young Doubles Through Souprayenmestry

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Hennie Appel raised to 2,700 and was called by Jean Souprayenmestry from the next seat. Alvin Pillay called on the button and Maxwell Young then jammed for 10,800 in the small blind. Appel folded, Souprayenmestry went all-in over the top and Pillay let go.

Maxwell Young: A9 All in
Jean Souprayenmestry: QQ

The premium pocket pair was cracked on the AKJ25 runout and Young survived.

Rajeev Poonhath
Rajeev Poonhath

Rajeev Poonhath raised to 3,000 from under the gun and Rayhaan Adam called in the cutoff. Colin Horgan then made it 15,000 to go from the big blind and Poonhath then simply pushed all-in.

Adam folded and Horgan used one time bank extension before doing so as well, exposing the AJ.

Poonhath showed his AK and Adam replied "I was way ahead of both of you, I had pocket eights":

Soopramanien Leaves Taliwanth Short

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

On the tail end of a A632J board, Cliton Taliwanth bet 13,000 with a shorter stack behind. Dhinesh Soopramanien from Mauritius pondered about his decision for a while and called. Taliwanth tabled the 95 for a bluff and Soopramanien won the pot with AJ for two pair on the four flush board, further boosting his large stack.

Fourie Loses Balls; Poonhath Wins Chips

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

"I have lost my balls!" Rudolf Fourie loudly exclaimed when he bolted away from the table. He had folded preflop when a shorter stacked Hadar Goren was all-in with with 88 against the 1010 of Rajeev Poonhath, who remained ahead all the way on the AA475 runout.

Apparently, Goren had already been eliminated by Poonhath earlier today only to re-enter and meet his nemesis again.
