Jacobus de Nysschen
Jacobus de Nysschen

Four ways to the QQ410 turn, Jacobus de Nysschen bet 1,200 and Bradley Moore called, Gavin Sardini raised to 3,700. That forced out Cliton Taliwanth, while de Nysschen and Moore called.

De Nysschen led the 9 river for 13,000 and Moore called while Sardini folded.

De Nysschen showed his Q9 for a full house and Moore mucked 65 for a rivered flush.

Ng Eliminated by SM

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
David Ng
David Ng

A massive pot was brewing over on table 18 with button raiser SM taking on David Ng out of the big blind. Nearly 40,000 were in the middle to the 54356 river on which Ng pushed all-in for 22,600.

SM asked for a count and eventually called to get shown A3, revealed by Ng with his head shaking. SM flipped over his 87 and that left Ng puzzled. The player from Mauritius then explained that he had check-raised the flop and turn for what appeared to be small increases.

The KQ842 board sent Schlegel to the rail on his first bullet of the day.

Harold Brooks

On the three-way flop of 874 flop, Harold Brooks and Lauren Piha checked to Adam Woolf, who reached for chips. While he bet 2,200, Brooks joked "you are betting into ace king" to then come along to the 8 turn.

Brooks moved all-in and Woolf snap-called.

The river was the 8 and Brooks scored a lucky double for 16,500, then apologised. "I repped the flush," he said.

"Don't be sorry," Woolf said with a smile on the face.

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante
Barend Jacobs
Barend Jacobs

Barend Jacobs raised to 700 and called a three-bet to 2,500 by Wesley Wiegand in the next seat.

Jacobs check-called the K95 flop and did so again for 5,100 on the 3 turn. After the 8 river, Jacobs checked and Wiegand pushed all-in. After very brief consideration, Jacobs called with the 99 for a set and Wiegand was caught with the fingers in the cookie jar holding the AJ only.

Two Starting Flights Remain in the 2024 SunBet Poker Tour GrandWest Main Event

Live Stream Table
Live Stream Table

The 2024 SunBet Poker Tour stop at the GrandWest Casino in Cape Town is gearing up for the grand finale of the ZAR 15,000 ($828) Main Event, which has attracted 258 entries so far. The series is held in cooperation between Sun International and the Monster Jam Poker Tour and has become Africa's Richest Poker Tour throughout the last few years.

In 2024, the season ending marquee event here in Cape Town attracted a field of 429 entries and generated a prize pool of ZAR 5,405,400 ($289,916) to breeze past the ZAR 4 Million guarantee. By the looks of it, that doesn't seem to be much of a problem
today either as two starting days remain to boost the attendance. During the series so far, all figures have been up by 30% or more, and that is a very promising sign for the marquee Main Event.

Leading the way so far after two of four flights is Clive Berman with 677,000 followed by Gareth Fourie (676,000), Colin Horgan (662,000), and Joey Weissman (587,000).

All players start their journey with 40,000 in chips, which is good enough for 200 big blinds in the opening level at blinds of 100-200 and a big blind ante of 200. The late registration is open for the first ten levels, during which unlimited re-entries can be purchased. There will be a dinner break after level eight in the regular heat 1d, which kicks off at 11 a.m. local time.

For the penultimate flight, the levels last 50 minutes each throughout, while the turbo heat 1d kicks off at 8 p.m. local time and will feature 30-minute levels during the late registration and 15 minutes thereafter. Both flights will play a total of 15 levels or down to the top 15% of each respective field, whichever comes faster.

The PokerNews updates will focus on Day 1c, which will also have a live stream with cards-up coverage on a 30-minute delay as well on the Monster Jam Poker YouTube channel.
