October Eliminated by Mouton

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Caleb October
Caleb October

Caleb October had been nursing a short stack for an extended period and ultimately got them in against the hyper aggressive Jaco Mouton. It was bad news for October with the 1010 as Mouton had a monster this time with the AA.

The 7658K runout brought no help and October was knocked out at the end of November ... err the end of the registration period for Day 1c.

Akinnusi Doubles Through Blom

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Tim Akinnusi
Tim Akinnusi

The short stacks of Tim Akinnusi and Wesley Blom went into the middle preflop with the former at risk for 35,500 with the KK. Blom was beaten by a notch and revealed the QQ.

There was no drama on the A8332 board and Akinnusi doubled. Blom got very few chips back the next hand when he showed a turned full house with K2 before then busting with a vocal "player out".

Gavin Sardini
Gavin Sardini

Gavin Sardini was all-in and at risk with the 99 and up against the KK of rising big stack Ronit Chamani.

The dominated pair found no help on the 883510 board and that spelled the end for Sardini.

"Good luck in the next one," Chamani told him on the way out.

Murcia Busts Language; Battles With Jacobs

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Remy Murcia
Remy Murcia

Before he started the hand, Remy Murcia promised to put his watch into play and then three-bet to 10,000 from the small blind following a raise by Lissa Szymonowicz and a call by Mariette Language. "Ten thousand and the watch," he said and took it off the wrist, placed it next to the raising chips.

They headed to the 987 flop on which Murcia checked. Language moved all-in and Murcia snap-called.

Mariette Language: 107 All in
Remy Murcia: KK

"You have a lot of equity ... oh no, my watch," Murcia said. The Q turn and 9 river were blanks and Language was eliminated.

One hand later, Murcia battled with Aidan Jacobs, who led the K1026 turn for 25,000. "Oh wow ... okay," Murcia said and then called. The 9 fell on the river and Jacobs instantly moved all-in.

Murcia asked for a count and the shove was for more than 80,000.

"Not the Spiderman, I love him too much," Jacobs grimaced. Murcia used three time banks and folded, Jacobs showed the 10.

"Come on, show me the other one, show the bluff," Murcia replied and mentioned during the chat after he had folded king-queen for top pair.

Gothey Gets the Chips of Van Huyssteen

Level 6 : 400/800, 800 ante
Muzamil Gothey
Muzamil Gothey

Three ways to the 873 flop, Lauren Piha checked and Muzamil Gothey bet 5,500 into around 8,000 out of the hijack. Braam van Huyssteen then raised to 15,500 on the button and Piha folded, Gothey called. Both checked the 6 turn and Gothey also checked the K on the river.

Van Huyssteen now jammed and the Tanzanian asked for a count. The shove was for 27,100 and Gothey called within fifteen seconds. He was shown the 65 for a busted straight draw on the flop that had turned a pair of sixes. Gothey had that beat with the QQ and earned a healthy boost to his stack.

Gamsy Flips Fourie to the Rail

Level 6 : 400/800, 800 ante
Adam Gamsy
Adam Gamsy

Adam Gamsy raised to 1,600 and found one caller in Beat Schlegel. Rudolf Fourie then announced all-in for around 20,000 out of the blinds and Gamsy called, Schlegel folded.

"Show me ace-king," Fourie said and Gamsy turned over the 99. Fourie flipped with the Q10 but didn't find any help on the 55348 runout. When he stood up from the chair, a T-1,000 chip fell from under his iPad and he tossed it to Gamsy.

Pather Wins Huge Pot Against Tate

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Toran Tate had raised to 3,300 and earned a caller in Wouter Van Der Merwe as well as Nic Ioannoy. Kumi Pather then squeezed to 15,000 and Tate called, as did Ioannoy.

The trio checked the 832 flop to the A turn and Tate now bet 25,000. Ioannoy folded but Pather pushed all-in. After using one time bank, Tate asked for a count and the all-in was for another 40,800 on top. Another two time banks later, Tate called.

Kumi Pather: AK All in
Toran Tate: AJ

The river was the insignificant 10 and Pather doubled to a massive stack.

"I would have flopped a set of eights," Ashley Hira mentioned.

Gossard Eliminated by Grove

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Bernard Gossard
Bernard Gossard

Sheldon Grove had re-entered to the same table he had busted from and was now playing on the outer tables after the line-up for the live stream had switched during the break. He took on Bernard Gossard and called the shove of the French player, with both players hesitating to show their cards.

"I called you," Grove insisted and wanted Gossard to flip em over first.

Bernard Gossard: JJ All in
Sheldon Grove: AQ

"I take an ace or queen," Grove said. The 999 flop added a nine to his outs, but he already hit the A turn. Nothing changed with the 4 river and Gossard was eliminated for now.

Life Outside Poker: Boston Rob Shares Story of Costa Rica Poker Raid w/ Daniel Negreanu & Cheryl Hines

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Boston Rob Life Outside Poker
Boston Rob Life Outside Poker

Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.

In the 21st episode, Connor speaks with Survivor legend Boston Rob, aka Rob Mariano, about growing up near Fenway Park, learning poker at the age of 6, studying psychology at Boston University, applying for Survivor and winning Season 22, his recent appearance on Deal or No Deal Island and filming an upcoming season of The Traitors.

Boston Rob also revealed a story about Costa Rican authorities raiding a mansion known to host high-stakes poker games during a 2006 filming that included Daniel Negreanu, Josh Arieh, David Williams, Michael Mizrachi and actress Cheryl Hines.

"(Gambling mogul) Calvin (Ayre) had a big party at the house, and they came in guns drawn," he said. "And we were fine, but we all had to stay at the party until they checked our passports and everything. I think it was a little bit of a shakedown. But we had a good weekend."

The Life Outside Poker podcast is available on major streaming platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, SoundCloud and iHeartRadio. You can also watch the interview with Boston Rob by heading to the PokerNews YouTube channel.
