Defending champion Ahmed Karrim has been adding chips to become one of the bigger stacks in the room. On the river of a heads-up blind battle with Max Deveson, he bet 35,000 on the Q♦Q♥3♠3♦10♦ board. Deveson used one time bank extension and then called, but mucked versus Q♠9♥ for a full house.

Ryan David Anderson then chopped in the next hand with the table chip leader when both had a jack-high straight on the turn.

Fast forward one hand, Kumi Pather three-bet jammed for 56,000 and Karrim called as the initial raiser.

Appel showed K♣10♦ for a busted gutshot and SM doubled with the A♦6♥ for trips aces.

"I thought he had less," Appel concluded.
