What started as four-way action saw Stephen Courtney bet the 8♠5♥4♣Q♣ turn for 5,000. Jonathan Hoal raised to 15,000 and Courtney quickly said "I fold, he has a set of eights" while exposing his 9♥9♠.
Hoal raked in the pot and his cards were still near the muck, from which he revealed 8♣8♥ for the set indeed.
"My folding game is on top," Courtney grimaced while Hoal bemoaned that he could have gotten more value if he had smooth-called.

Rayhaan Adam and Dirk Steenkamp headed to the J♠8♣4♠8♦ turn on which the former bet and Steenkamp called.
The 6♠ fell on the river and Adam bet 22,000. "The question is ..." Steenkamp said and used one time bank.
"Do you have an eight?" Adam asked and Steenkamp shook his head. A few moments later, the bigger stack pushed all-in and Adam instantly folded. Before raking in another very healthy pot, Steenkamp flashed his K♠Q♠ for a rivered flush.

Alexandre Blanc raised to 1,500 from under the gun and received no fewer than six callers, only JS folded.
"Not what you were expecting, eh? You probably raise something like jack-ten," Jonathan Hoal joked to Blanc ahead of the 10♥10♠2♠ flop. Hennie Appel was the one to bet 1,000 and Alan Jung called, everybody else folded.
On the 3♥ turn, Appel bet another 4,200 for Jung to call and Appel declared a bet of 9,000 moments before the 2♦ river completed the board. Appel had previously asked Jung if he had a ten, who then came back with the same question.
Jung ultimately paid it off and mucked when Appel revealed 10♦7♥.

After a slow start into Day 1b, Huawei Sun is slowly chipping back up. He was just involved in three-way action when it checked to him on the A♣10♣7♦10♠ turn. Sun bet 3,000 and Jonathan Hoal check-called, Hennie Appel folded.
The 4♥ river saw Hoal check-fold to a bet of 8,000 and expose a missed royal flush draw, sighing a "how do I miss there". Sun flashed the 2♥ before collecting the pot.
