Polk Doubles Through Peters

Level 3 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Down to 62,500, Doug Polk raised all in from the hijack and David Peters called from the small blind.

Polk: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Peters: {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

The flop fell {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, giving Polk a set. The {10-Hearts} turn gave Peters a few outs to a straight, but the {A-Spades} river locked up the pot for Polk.

Holz Gets Some from Ivey

Level 3 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Fedor Holz raised from the cutoff to 11,000 and Phil Ivey three-bet to 30,000 from the button. Both blinds folded and Holz made the call.

The flop brought out {6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Holz check-called 40,000.

On the turn the {10-Clubs} hit and both players checked.

The river was the {9-Clubs} and Holz checked again. Ivey opted to check behind and the German pro showed {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} to take the pot down.

"You're going after the little kid, huh?" Holz jokingly said to Ivey.

"Who's the little kid?" Ivey said, "You're talking about yourself?"

Holz seems to be getting along with Ivey quite well, but on the felt we're expecting to see more clashes today.

Jason vs. Jason

Level 3 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

From the gun, Jason Mercier raised to 8,000. Jason Koon called from big blind, and the flop fell {K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Koon checked, and Mercier bet 8,000. Koon called.

The turn was the {2-Spades}, and Koon checked again. Mercier bet 26,000, and Koon called to see the {J-Clubs} complete the board on the river. Both players checked.

Koon tabled the {K-Clubs}{5-Spades} for two pair, kings and fives, and Mercier mucked his hand.

Bellande Calls Kaverman Out for Playing Slow

Level 4 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Byron Kaverman
Byron Kaverman

"Hey Doc," Jean-Robert Bellande yelled to the table next to him at David "Doc" Sands. "I'll trade you for Isaac."

"What did I do?" Isaac Baron said quickly, before Bellande apologized.

"Oh sorry, I meant...?" Bellande said, but sort of asked because he blanked on the name.

"Byron," chimed in Sands.

"Yeah, Byron," said Bellande. "This guy makes me wish I hadn't bought into this event, it's just not fun. I'm serious!"

"I'll play faster, just for you," Byron Kaverman said with a smile.

Kaverman has a reputation for playing rather slow in hands he's involved in, but so does Sands, which is why Bellande was calling out Kaverman for playing slower than Sands.

"You're a speedy player compared to Byron," Bellande said to Sands, who received this compliment with a smile. The rest of the room began to laugh as well.

"I feel like the time clock is an encouragement for him to take forever," Bellande said to Cary Katz at another table, all while looking a bit annoyed at Kaverman. "It's like he lets it run down to 30 seconds because he knows he has another 30 seconds left!"

Bellande then turned his attention back to Sands.

"You know what, I apologize for every time I gave you a hard time about it," Bellande said to Sands.

"Well thank you!" Sands yelled back.

"At least he said he would play a bit faster for me," Bellande said.

"Take all the time you want!" yelled a loud voice from the opposite corner of the room.

When Bellande turned, he saw it was Bobby Baldwin yelling. The entire room started laughing, as Baldwin had been quiet for most of the day, but as Bellande was picking on Kaverman he decided to speak up.
