Top Pair for Soverel

Level 5 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

From the button, Christoph Vogelsang raised to 6,000 and Sam Soverel called in the small blind.

The flop lands {Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Soverel checked to Vogelsang who bet 6,000. Soverel check-raised to 20,000, and Vogelsang called.

The turn lands the {10-Spades}, and Soverel checked to Vogelsang, and he bet 19,000. Soverel called, and then both players checked the {3-Clubs} on the river.

Soverel tabled his {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}, and Vogelsang mucked.

Christner Calls His Way to Rail

Level 5 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Christian Christner
Christian Christner

Christian Christian was on the button, opening the action with a raise to 5,000. Big blind Stephen Chidwick three-bet to 21,000 and Christner called.

Chidwick fired three barrels on the {A-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} board, making it 15,000 on the flop and 30,000 on the turn. Christner called and Chidwick set him all-in on the river for about 70,000 effective. Christner didn't take too long before calling but his {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} couldn't beat Chidwick's {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}.

Chidwick now climbed near the 500,000-chip mark.

Polk Doubles Through Kenney With Major Sweat

Level 5 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Doug Polk Doubles

Bryn Kenney opened to 5,500 on the button and Doug Polk shoved all in from the small blind for 35,500. He could see Kenney calculating.

"Really bad odds," Polk said.

"Really good odds," Kenney said. "With a really pretty hand."

Kenney slammed in calling chips and revealed {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Polk was slightly ahead with {a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} but wasn't pleased.

"I'm so boned," he said.

The {5-Clubs}{j-Spades}{7-Hearts} kept it clean for him but the {10-Clubs} was the worst turn that still kept him in the lead. Polk rattled off the cards he had to dodge — eights, kings, queens, nines and clubs — and did so when the {10-Diamonds} hit.

Perkins Picks Off Tilston

Level 6 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Keith Tilston (small blind) and Bill Perkins (button) were on the river of the {Q-Spades}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{A-Spades}{K-Clubs} board. Tilston let Perkins bet 17,000 and then check-raised to 65,000.

Perkins called within a few seconds. "I have a queen," Tilston said, already knowing that his {Q-Hearts}{7-Hearts} won't be good enough to seize the pot. Perkins opened {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} for top two pair and improved his stack to 370,000.

Burns Doubles Through Blieden

Level 6 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Kahle Burns opened for 6,000 under the gun and got called by Kathy Lehne in the small blind before big blind Dennis Blieden made it 33,000. Burns moved all in for 109,000. Lehne folded and Blieden got the count and called, though he wasn't thrilled about it.

Kahle Burns: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Dennis Blieden: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

The board ran out dead: {2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}, shipping the dub to Burns.
