Riordan Somehow Gets it in Good and Doubles
Level 8
: Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
John Riordan from the big blind was tangled in a pot with a player from under the gun with around 35,000 already in the middle preflop.
With the board reading J♣10♥6♣, Riordan led for 19,000 before his opponent jammed as the covering stack, and Riordan snapped off his 80,200 stack.
John Riordan: A♥K♥
Under the Gun: A♠8♠
Riordan was shocked to see that he was in the lead with ace-king high along with his gutshot and backdoor flush draw.
The 6♥ turn brought some chop outs while Riordan picked up the nut flush draw, which came home on the 4♥ river, securing the full double for Riordan.
"You snap call that?" a tablemate jokingly questioned of Riordan.
"I could still make a Royal..." Riordan explained as he stacked his newfound chips.
