Julia Gets Unlucky, and Then Unlucky Again, and Then Lucky

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Nicholas Julia
Nicholas Julia

Nicholas Julia opened to 100,000 under the gun and Toby Price defended his big blind.

The 983 flop checked through to the 10 turn as Price checked again to Julia who bet 100,000. Price check-raised to 500,000, essentially asking for the rest of Julia's stack. He obliged, putting in his 575,000 stack, and Price tossed in the last few chips to call.

Nicholas Julia: A7 All in
Toby Price: Q7

Both players had an open-ended straight draw, but Julia also had the nut flush draw, and ace-high was still the best hand. However, the 6 rolled off on the river and both players made the same straight to chop the pot.

Two hands later, the under the gun player jammed for roughly 600,000 and Julia rejammed in the small blind as the slightly covering stack.

Under the Gun: A5 All in
Nicholas Julia: QQ

Julia was once again in good shape to win a big one until the A42 flop gave his opponent top pair and a gutshot. However, Julia would spike the Q on the turn, and he held through the 10 river as his three ladies were best to essentially double his stack.

Mitchell and Phelps Clicking Buttons

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Heads-up to the turn with roughly 300,000 in the middle, the board read QQ62 in a hand between Curtis Phelps from the small bind and Brandon Mitchell from the cutoff.

Phelps checked to Mitchell who bet 125,000. Phelps then min-clicked it to 250,000. Mitchell responded with a three-bet to 435,000, forcing Phelps to fold after some deliberation.

"What a f*cking weird hand," Mitchell joked in the post-mortem, "I for sure had the best hand," as he tossed 1010 into the middle.

"Please make it known to the world that Curtis [Phelps] is trying to give it away," Mitchell continued.

Sessler and Furay Find Doubles

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Gregory Sessler jammed for 305,000 under the gun and Toby Price looked him up from middle position.

Gregory Sessler: A2 All in
Toby Price: 77

Sessler needed some help to stay alive, which he found on the AKJ flop by pairing his ace. He held through the 810 runout to secure the double.

At another table, Jeremy Becker opened to 80,000 under the gun before Richard Furay jammed for 435,000 from two seats over. Once it folded back to Becker, he opted to put in the call after a minute's tank.

Richard Furay: JJ All in
Jeremy Becker: A10

Furay was in good shape with the best starting hand in poker, and he held through the K73Q6 runout to secure the double.

What Does the Fox Say?

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Peter Fox
Peter Fox

Peter Fox opened to 60,000 from middle position and was called by Travis Decker on the button, as well as the big blind.

On the J64 flop, Fox continued for 60,000 and only Decker called.

Fox led again for 140,000 on the 2 turn before Decker announced all in for his 720,000 stack. Fox would go deep in the tank for over two minutes before he decided to call, and the cards hit their backs.

Travis Decker: 76 All in
Peter Fox: J5

Fox was ahead with top pair, but Decker still had five outs to stay alive. Unfortunately for him, the river was the 10, leaving Fox's hand best as Decker was eliminated.

Read 'Em and Weep

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Christina Read
Christina Read

Chris Read opened to 80,000 from middle position and was called by the hijack and by Nicholas Julia in the big blind.

On the 986 flop, Read continued for 200,000 and only the hijack called.

Read bet 200,000 again on the Q turn and her opponent stuck around once more.

On the Q river, Read slowed down with a check and the hijack was content to do the same, flipping over 1010. However, they were second-best to the AA of Read who now sits as the largest stack in the room with 120 players left.
