Koplimaa Doubles Off Loiv

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante
Markku Koplimaa
Markku Koplimaa

Markku Koplimaa just doubled up from the big blind to around 50,000 in chips against a hand involving Andres Loiv who was under the gun. The hand got exciting on the turn when Koplimaa was at risk with about 18,000 remaining with the {4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{6-Hearts} on the board.

Koplimaa held {k-Spades}{6-Spades} for two pair and just needed to fade an ace to survive and double with his opponent holding {a-}{k-}. He won the hand after the safe {7-Diamonds} completed the board on the river.

Mattila and Hurri in the House

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante

A pair of well-known Finns, especially here in Tallinn, have entered the field in Jari Hurri and Jussi Matilla. While Hurri is only known for tournaments, Mattila is known also for cash games.

Mattila has had several final tables in events but he is often seen playing mid and high stakes cash games as was the case last night.

Quads for Gatos

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante

Renta Eline Kris Gatos checked with the {7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Spades}{j-Hearts} on the board with about 12,000 in chips in the middle. Ermo Kosk bet 10,000 and Gatos grabbed a huge stack of yellow 5,000-denominated chips and made a raise more than covering the 20,000 to 25,000 Kosk had left in his stack.

Kosk thought for a minute before he made the call and got the bad news. Gatos turned over {q-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for quads and before Kosk left the tournament area he showed the table he had a pretty good hand himself with {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} for a full house sixes over kings.

Nice River for Mirza

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante
Mirza Masse
Mirza Masse

Masse Mirza opened to 1,100 from the cutoff and Linda Lahdenpaa called from the button. Jukka Koskela three-bet to 5,100 from the small blind and got a call from Mirza and a fold from Lahdenpaa.

Koskela bet 3,500 after the {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{6-Clubs} came on the flop and got a call from Mirza. Both players checked after the {7-Clubs} came on the turn and again after the {8-Clubs} completed the board on the river.

Koskela turned over {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} and was ahead until Mirza paired the river as he turned over {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

Kuperman Doubles

Level 5 : 150/300, 300 ante

A player opened to 700 before two other players called behind. Sami Pulliainen three-bet to 3,300 from the cutoff before Aleksandr Kuperman jammed for about 9,000 from the big blind. The action folded back to Pulliainen, who made a snap-call.

Aleksandr Kuperman: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Sami Pulliainen: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}

The race was on when the chips got into the pot but Kuperman took a big lead after he paired the {a-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop. Pulliainen got no relief the rest of the way with the {j-Diamonds} on the turn and the {9-Diamonds} on the river completing the board.

Tikerpe Uncomfortably Calls

Level 5 : 150/300, 300 ante

Linda Lahdenpaa bet 7,500 into a pot of around 10,000 with the {k-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} on the board. Matthias Tikerpe tanked for several minutes and at least twice grabbed his cards appearing he was about to toss them away while shaking his head.

He shook his head one last time before he made the call.

"Nice call," Lahdenpaa said to her opponent as she turned over {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades} in the knowledge her bluff didn't work.

Tikerpe called with {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and has one of the bigger stacks in the room midway through Day 1.
