Snowmen Everywhere!

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Ottomar Ladva is one of the young professional poker players in Estonia that is out for a big score in the Summer Showdown Main Event.

Things haven't gone completely his way today but he is headed in the right direction. He open-jammed for about 7,000 from hijack before Artjoms Skvarkovskis jammed over the top for 13,000. The rest of the table folded and the flip was on with Ladva holding {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Skvarkovskis holding {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

The {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop gave Skvarkovskis top pair but he was up against a set and drawing dead after the {7-Diamonds} came on the turn. The {2-Spades} came on the river and Ladva doubled up

Shortly after, Skvarkovskis was all in again and this time he had the {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} and the shortest stack on the table with 6,000. Kimmo Kurko found a call with {a-}{7-} and once again a set hit the {2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop. The hand was decided after the {a-Diamonds} came on the turn and the dealer awarded Skvarkovskis the pot after the {k-Spades} completed the board.

Lindberg Cracks Sootla's Aces

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Ranno Sootla
Ranno Sootla

Ranno Sootla four-bet Ingemar Andreas Lindberg to 12,600 preflop and got a call. He then open-jammed after the {10-Spades}{5-Clubs}{k-Clubs} came on the flop more than covering the approximately 20,000 his opponent had behind and Lindberg quickly called.

Sootla turned over {a-Hearts}{a-Spades} and was drawing very thin with Lindberg flopping top set with {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. Neither the {8-Clubs} on the turn nor the {9-Clubs} on the river were able to get Sootla back in the hand and Lindberg doubled up.

Mattila Chips Up

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Jussi Mattila opened the button to 2,000 before a player in the small blind jammed for 15,000. Mikael Viggander tanked in the big blind and Mattila began talking to a friend.

"Here's what is going to happen," Mattila said. "He is going to shove and I am going to fold."

Viggander eventually folded and Mattila called but not before he said: "He folded, so I have to call."

Mattila held {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and was ahead of his opponent's {a-Spades}{8-Hearts} the entire way as the {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades} ran out on the board.

"Were you folding if I shoved?" Viggander asked after the hand.

"Of course not," Mattila said with a big laugh.

Siljander Wins Big Pot with Kings

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Mathias Siljander
Mathias Siljander

Mathias Siljander and Masse Mirza just played a huge pot where all the chips were in preflop. It all began innocently enough with Tomas Sujeta opening to 1,500 from early position. Mirza three-bet to 3,500 from middle position and Siljander, who was getting a massage, four-bet to 6,000 from one seat over.

Sujeta got out of the way before Mirza four-bet to 15,000.

"How much do you play?" Siljander asked before he jammed for over 120,000.

"You know I have it," Siljander said before he asked the dealer, "Do you want to see my cards?"

A minute passed by before Mirza called off his stack of around 65,000.

Mathias Siljander: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Masse Mirza: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}

"Good luck," Siljander said to his opponent.

Siljander remained ahead the entire way as the {8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{9-Spades}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts} ran out on the board and after the hand was the chip leader with a stack of 200,000.

Bakker Doubles off Jukkala

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Sebastian Wahl opened for 1,700 from the hijack and got calls from all four players yet to act including Gjermund Johan Bakker on the button and Pekka Jukkala in the small blind.

Jukkala bet 5,100 after the {8-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{7-Spades} came on the flop. The action folded to Bakker who asked Jukkala to show his chips. After a minute, Bakker shoved for 29,000.

Jukkala quickly called and needed a lot of help after he turned over {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for top pair against Bakker's {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} for a set. Jukkala was still alive in the hand with the {j-Spades} pairing the board on the turn. However, the {6-Clubs} came on the river and Bakker doubled up.

Hilton Tallinn Park
Hilton Tallinn Park

It's getting close to a record for the Tallinn Summer Showdown Main Event with 150 entrants already in the field. It seems like a slam dunk that the record set last year of 165 entrants will be smashed with late registration not only open for the rest of the day but until the end of the first blind level of tomorrow's Day 2.
