Dowling Busts Pieruzzini

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Chris Dowling
Chris Dowling

Aleksandrs Golubevs opened to 16,000 under the gun and Chris Dowling called on the button. Dario Pieruzzini also called in the big blind.

On the 967 flop, Pieruzzini moved all in for 83,000. Golubevs thought it over but folded, however Dowling made the quick call to put Pieruzzini at risk.

Dario Pieruzzini: 95 All in
Chris Dowling: QQ

Pieruzzini had flopped top pair with the gutshot straight draw, but was in bad shape versus Dowling's queens. The K turn and 4 river confirmed his exit and sent Dowling a nice pot.

Aleksandrs Golubevs
Aleksandrs Golubevs

A player opened to 12,000 in the hijack, only to be met with a three-bet jam from Alessandro Traversi to 59,000. Aleksandrs Golubevs cold flatted on the button.

Action folded back to the original raiser, who pondered the spot before moving all-in for around 200,000. Golubevs snap-called with the covering stack.

Player: QQ All in
Alessandro Traversi: JJ All in
Aleksandrs Golubevs: AA

In a brutal cooler, Golubevs looked set to claim a double knockout, and the 10K3K4 runout confirmed his opponents demise. Golubevs is now likely to be the current chip leader in Day 1c.

In the very next hand after the controversy, Tomas Patka opened to 10,000 and was met with a three-bet jam to around 70,000 by Andrea Volpi.

Action folded to Dario Pieruzzini, who moved all-in for around 160,000, forcing Patka to get out of the way.

Andrea Volpi: 88 All in
Dario Pieruzzini: AK

Volpi was ahead in a race, and remained so after the 95J flop and J turn. However the A rolled off on the river to give Pieruzzini a pair of aces and send Volpi to the exits.

Controversy at Table 12

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

There has been some controversy here at Table 12.

Dario Pieruzzini had KK and was all-in for around 75,000 and at risk versus Giorgio Soceanu who held AJ.

The runout came 96107A, Soceanu thinking he had won the pot with a rivered pair of aces. However it became apparent that the dealer had, after exposing a card pre-flop, not used that card as the first burn card, and then mistakenly burned again.

The tournament director was called, the board was reconstituted and no ace appeared, with Pieruzzini taking the pot.

Soceanu was understandably furious with the turn of events, and much animated discussion in Italian took place, but he had little choice but to accept the position.

Iannantuoni Spikes River to Double via Verhaegen

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Wim Verhaegen opened to 2,500 from the cutoff and Andrea Iannantuoni defended his big blind.

On the J53 flop, Iannantuoni check-called versus a bet of 1,800 from Verhaegen.

The 4 rolled off on the turn, and Iannantuoni changed approach, jamming for 22,500, and receiving a snap call from Verhaegen.

Andrea Iannantuoni: 65 All in
Wim Verhaegen: 44

Iannantouni had second pair fives with the up and down straight draw, but needed to make the straight to overcome Verhaegen's turned set of fours.

The 2 river completed the board to give Iannantuoni the six-high straight and double-up, and he slammed the table in an enthusiastic celebration. Verhaegen barely reacted when the river hit.

Rizvanovic Busts Chuttani with Hero Call

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Haris Rizvanovic
Haris Rizvanovic

Around 35,000 was in the middle on a completed board of 43Q82 in a hand between Sahil Chuttani and Haris Rizvanovic, both in middle position.

Chuttani moved all in for 21,400 and Rizvanovic went deep into thought. After about two minutes, he called.

Chuttani said "Good call" and turned over K5 for king-high after missing his flopped flush draw and Rizvanovic turned over 73 for a pair of threes, Rizvanovic making the call with fourth pair.

Rizvanovic gave the table a tap in celebration and the rest of his opponents were quick to congratulate Rizvanovic on a true hero call. Chuttani wished the table good luck as he departed.

Zabrodotskyi Busts Vivalda

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Yurii Zabrodotskyi opened to 2,000 under the gun and was called by Romain Vivalda and the big blind.

On the A10Q flop, action was checked to Zabrodotskyi who fired out a bet of 4,000. Vivalda called and the big blind folded.

The A rolled off on the turn and Zabrodotskyi continued with the aggression, firing out a bet of 7,500. Vivalda again called.

The 3 river completed the board, and Zabrodotskyi emptied the clip, sliding out an overbet bet of 50,000. Vivalda, who had about 20,000 left behind, looked pained.

After some thought, Vivalda called. Zabrodotskyi showed K2 for the rivered flush, and Vivalda sighed and turned over A6 for trip aces.
