Action folded to a player on the button, who opened to 800. Dmytro Ishchenko was in the small blind and produced a three-bet to 3,300, which his opponent called.
On the J♠J♥9♣ flop, Ishchenko led out with a bet of 1,200. His opponent raised to 6,100, but this was met with a swift four-bet to 13,000 from Ishchenko, and his opponent promptly disposed of his hand into the muck.
After he won the €550 WSOP-C Cup for €45,400 and his first WSOP-C ring last night, Samuel Fournier is back in the Main Event today.
Day 1a started well for him as he already has 54,000 chips.
Just now, he opened to 800 from under the gun, and was called by the blinds. He continued for 1,700 on a flop of K♠A♠7♦ and made his opponents fold to win a few more chips.
A player opened to 600 from early position and Alexandre Asik called in the small blind. Bogdan Ionescu was in the big blind, and reached for chips to produce a three-bet to 3,000. The opener folded and Asik called.
On the K♠10♣6♣ flop, Asik check-called a bet of 3,600 from Ionescu.
The 4♥ rolled off on the turn, and Asik checked to Ionescu once more. After some thought, Ionescu fired out a bet of 10,700 and Asik quickly called.
The Q♥ river completed the board, and Asik checked for a third time. Ionescu wasted little time before moving all in for 18,000, with Asik playing 37,000 behind.
Asik sat back in his chair and pondered the spot for about a minute, but eventually tapped the table and let his hand go.
Elvin Gurbanov opened from the button and was called by both players in the blinds.
All three of them checked the J♠10♥10♠ flop, and after the blinds checked again the 4♣ turn, Gurbanov bet 700. Louis Linard in the small blind was the only one to call.
The 2♣ river brought no more action and Linard flipped over 8♦8♠ and made Gurbanov fold.
Moments later, Lenard three-bet to 2,100 from the cutoff after an open by the hijack, and call when the button four-bet to 6,500.
Lienard check-called for 7,500 on the 4♥6♣5♦, then check-raised all-in on the 6♥ turn. The button, who bet 15,000, immediately folded.
Uri Hadar opened to 600 from early position and was met with a three-bet to 2,100 from Laurent Michot in the next seat. Action folded back to Hadar, who called.
On the 5♦7♠6♠ flop, Hadar check-called a bet of 2,600 from Michot.
The 7♣ turn paired the board, and Michot continued to fire when action was checked to him, sliding out a bet of 8,000, which led to a swift fold from Hadar.
Mathieu Rabalison opened to 600 from early position and was faced with a three-bet to 2,100 by Ali Mekhtoub in the next seat. Action folded back to Rabalison, who called.
On the 2♠5♣6♣ flop, Rabalison check-called a bet of 2,100 from Mekhtoub.
The J♦ turn was checked through by both players.
The 9♦ river completed the board and Rabalison led out with a huge overbet of 18,000, leading to a chuckle and swift fold from Mekhtoub, sending the pot to Rabalison.
On a board of K♥9♣7♦Q♣, Kande Dembele in the hijack moved all-in for 41,000 after Mark Helou in the cutoff bet 11,000.
"I'm going to fold," Helou said a few times before changing his mind. "Let's go, if you have it I give it to you" he added while making the call, being the player at risk for 30,500.
Mark Helou: K♣Q♥
Kande Dembele: J♣10♦
Dembele hit a straight on the turn, so Helou with two pair was eliminated after the 9♦ river.
Thomas Santerne opened to 800 under the gun and was faced with a three-bet to 2,300 by Manfred Lehmann in the next seat. Action folded to Tobias Peters in the small blind, who pondered the position for a moment and cold-called. Santerne also called.
On the K♠Q♠5♠ flop, action was checked to Lehmann, who slid out a bet of 3,100. Peters called and Santerne folded.
The 10♠ rolled off on the turn, completing the one-card flush, and Peters check-called a bet of 3,100 from Lehmann, asking "Do you think there will be another spade on the river?" as he did so.
The 2♣ completed the board and Peters checked once more. Lehmann quickly fired out a bet of 5,200 and Peters said "If you have it, you have it", as he flicked in calling chips.
Lehmann did indeed have it as he showed A♠A♣ for the nut flush, causing Peters to muck his hand, and sending a chunky early pot to Lehmann.
