Chris Da Silva takes the chip lead into Day 3 of the GG Poker UK Championships Main Event, with 22 players remaining, all of whom will be hoping to claim the title and first place prize of £102,000 on Day 3.

237 players began Day 2 hoping to at least navigate their way to the money, with 188th place being good for a minimum cash of £1,000. Notable names who began the day but failed to cash included Nikolay Ponomarev and Gary Miller.

Lee Cowmeadow
Lee Cowmeadow

Philip Baker opened to 400,000 from late position and Lee Cowmeadow moved all in for 1,460,000, with Baker making the quick call, putting Cowmeadow at risk.

As soon as Baker called, Cowmeadow looked shocked and stated he had thought action had folded round to him.

Lee Cowmeadow: 62
Philip Baker: 78

Cowmeadow needed some help and the K56 flop gave him a pair of sixes, however the 9 turn gave Baker the straight and left Cowmeadow drawing dead.

The 7 river completed the board, with Cowmeadow heading to the exit after an unfortunate lapse in concentration.

Woodford Doubles Through Shields

Level 27 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Daniel Woodford
Daniel Woodford

Daniel Woodford opened to 400,000 and was faced with a three-bet to 2,100,000 from Thomas Shields in the small blind.

Action folded back to Woodford who produced the all-in four-bet jam to 5,300,000. Shields pondered his options for a moment and called to put Woodford at risk.

Daniel Woodford: QQ
Thomas Shields: AK

It was the classic race with Woodford's queens ahead of Shields' ace-king.

No help arrived for Shields on the 10429Q runout, with Woodford scooping the pot with a set of queens.

Hicks Doubles Through Turaliyev

Level 27 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Nick Hicks
Nick Hicks

The short-stacked Nick Hicks was all-in for 945,000 and at risk after being called by Kairat Turaliyev.

Nick Hicks: KK
Kairat Turaliyev: 810

Hicks' pair of kings were in great shape and improved to a set on the K97 flop, although his opponent still had outs with his up and down straight draw.

However any hopes of a turnaround were extinguished by the 7 turn, giving Hicks a full house and leaving his opponent drawing dead. The A completed the runout.
