Michael Jozoff
Michael Jozoff

Action picked up on the river with a board reading {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. Michael Jozoff had all of his chips in the middle. His opponent, Joshua Lien, was the effective stack at about 52,000.

Lien went into the tank as he studied the board and thought with his tournament life at stake.

"I have a blocker to the straight, but I'll lay it down to you," and he showed {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for top pair and a blocker to the straight. "That was the perfect card to bluff on...or you just had it," said Lien.

"One of the two," said Jozoff, as he scooped the pot.

Action picked up with Jesse Solano going all in over an open for about 32,000. His shove didn't make it far, Dean Henry also went all in behind for 120,000 and all other players folded.

Solano showed his {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Henry flipped the {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}. The board came out all low cards, but with two diamonds. The turn and river both brought diamonds as well, and Henry made a four-card flush to eliminate Solano.

"Weird way to win it," said Henry, but he didn't complain as he scooped the pot.

Raymond Brint

Raymond Brint raised to 5,000 from late position and got one caller, Cameron Mixson, from the small blind.

The flop came {8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. Mixson started with a check and Brint checked behind.

The turn was the {j-Hearts} and Mixson now led for about 4,500. Brint decided to call.

On the river {3-Clubs}, Mixson again led, this time for 8,500. Brint didn't call, instead, he raised it up to 20,000. This sent Mixson into the tank. After about a minute, he made the call only to see the bad news.

Bring rolled over {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for flopped trips and he added to his large stack.

Smith's Bullets Gun Down the Button

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
ELLIOT SMITH
ELLIOT SMITH

Henry Porcaro raised on the button to 5,500 before immediately getting three-bet by Elliot Smith to 20,000.

Porcaro eyed up Smith's stack. He decided to go all in, and had his opponent covered. Unfortunately for him. his opponent snap called and said, "I have aces."

Smith did have {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}. Porcaro revealed that he made the move with {a-Spades}{3-Diamonds} from the button. "I only make that move once per tournament," said Porcaro.

This time, the board gave him not much with {10-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts}. The turn brought in a gutshot with the {2-Diamonds}, but the {8-Diamonds} missed him.

"That play would have worked almost all the time," said Smith. "I admire the effort."

Smith scooped the massive pot that catapults him to one of the day's chip leaders.

James Calderaro
James Calderaro

Action picked up on the river with a scary board of {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. James Calderaro had position and made a bet of 30,000 into a pot of about 60,000 after action had checked to him.

Elliot Smith went deep into the tank.

"Can I look at my phone?" asked Calderaro, and the dealer shook his head.

Smith eventually landed on a call for a large portion of his remaining chips.

Calderaro flipped up the {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}.

"Nice hand, sir," said Smith who also flipped up {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}.

"That is a bad player. Bad," said Calderaro with a smile and both players shared a laugh. "Jesus Christ, man, everything beats you."

Everything except Calderaro's hand, which resulted in a chop and a few laughs.

Stepuchin Livens up the Place

Frank Stepuchin
Frank Stepuchin

Frank Stepuchin is in the mix at the Main Event. He showed up with a football and a brew in hand.

"Can you throw that football over the mountains?" asked someone from a nearby table.

"What's the over/under on this guy getting DQ'ed from too many penalties?" asked James Calderaro.

Stepuchin was obviously worried about getting too many penalties, so he decided to tape his mouth shut for his own best interest.

Stepuchin has livened up the area and will try to run up a stack while he brings smiles to those around him.

Tran Turns Stone Into Dust

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Tony Tran
Tony Tran

Action picks up on the turn with a board showing {6-Spades}{q-Spades}{k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. Stone had position and had bet 12,000 into a pot of about 28,000. Her opponent, Tony Tran, put in the min-check-raise to 24,000. After some thought, Stone made the call, leaving herself about 24,000 behind.

The {a-Clubs} hit the river and Tran moved all in quickly by placing a large stack of 5,000 value chips across the line. Stone started talking to herself.

"It's so stupid. I didn't realize how few chips I had and now I've hit my hand."

No snap call is good. Can I guess her hand without getting in trouble?" asked Tran.

"I don't know," said the dealer.

"I guess I'll just shut up then," Tran laughed.

After some deliberation, Stone did indeed put in the call. Tran showed the {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for flopped trips. Stone accidentally threw her cards into the muck before revealing them as required.

"I have to flip them," and the dealer attempted to retrieve them from the muck. He pulled out the {a-Spades}{4-Clubs}.

"That wasn't them," said Stone before she exited the area.

"Just report that hand as Ace-King," said the table.

Jagroo tabled the {8-Spades}{10-Spades} for the combo draw and Jozoff showed his {q-}{10-} for top pair.

Charles Wardlaw raised in late position to 1,700 and found two callers, including Jay Nguyen in the big blind.

The flop showed the {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and action checked through. Action also checked around on the {5-Spades} turn.

On the river, action checked to the preflop raiser Wardlaw, who bet 1,500. Nguyen thought for a bit and made the call.

"Ace is good," said Wardlaw. Nguyen didn't have an ace, but he rolled over the {k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. "Oh, you have the board?" Wardlaw asked. "I play the board too," and Wardlaw showed {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for the chop.

"That's when you're supposed to make it 3,000', said another tablemate.

"I don't think I'd raise with an ace," said Nguyen, content to take half the pot.
