Himmelspach Extracts Small Pot from Devonshire

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

The turned board read {10-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and there was 8,700 in the pot when Chad Himmelspach bet 3,200. Bryan Devonshire called the bet and the board completing {q-Diamonds} fell.

Himmelspach fired in 3,500 on the river, and Devonshire called once more. The {j-Spades}{10-Hearts} flipped over from Himmelspach, giving him two pair and Devonshire quickly let his hand slide into the muck.

Lamkin Takes Stroll Down Suboptimal Road, Finds Fortuitous Runout

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante
Jesse Crenan
Jesse Crenan

Brian Lamkin opened with a bet of 700 from the hijack, Mario Sanroman called on the button, and Kennzy Smith called in the small blind. Looking down at his cards from the big blind was Jesse Crenan who elected to three-bet, making it 7,000 total.

Lamkin shoved his 35,300 into the middle and action folded back around to Crenan who called.

"Do you have ace-king?" asked Crenan and Lamkin replied "I've got nothing," with an earnest look on his face.

Jesse Crenan: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Brian Lamkin: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

Crenan was in a commanding spot but the {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop then fanned out and Lamkin spiked a johnnie. The {3-Hearts} turn and {q-Hearts} river retained the lead for Lamkin who pulled in the double, leaving Crenan with crumbs.

Nguyen Catapults Before Break

William Nguyen

The action picked up on an {9-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} board with around 30,000 in the pot. William Nguyen was all in, totaling 36,800 and Sean Roberts called.

Roberts turned over {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for two pair but was in a bad spot when Nguyen showed {8-Hearts}{7-Spades}. The {9-Hearts} river paired the board but was not the one Roberts needed and Nguyen scooped in the double before break.

Perrone and Jattin Take a Seat on Table 31

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante
Farid Jattin
Farid Jattin

The final day of Event #10: $5,000 NLH High Roller began just two days ago and it took 17 hours to find a champion. Michael Perrone topped a field of 82, banking $120,704 for his victory.

It was not an easy feat for Perrone who had to take down one of the best tournament players in the game when heads-up rolled around. That player is Farid Jattin, who was short when they started the battle and failed to get any momentum rolling during the early hours of the day.

Fast-forward 30 hours and the two are now seated at the same table in Day 1e. The unlikely roll might bring some action to the early stages of this friendly structure but as of now, it seems to be just another day on the felt for the two High Roller winners.

How Texas Poker Differs from Las Vegas (and Elsewhere)

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante
Texas Poker
Texas Poker

Not to go all cheesy cliche, but as we discovered on our weeklong journey across the Lone Star State back in March, everything really is bigger in Texas...including the poker (and the pickup trucks).

Texas poker is about as similar to Las Vegas poker and other towns as Tom Dwan's style of play is to Allen Kessler's. The game is the same in some ways, but also very different in others, starting with the legal aspect.
