Day 3 of Event #13 $3,000 Main Event has come to an end after about eight hours of play that saw the day begin with 39 players and end with only six.

Eric Afriat ended the day as chip leader with 9,355,000 leads the six remaining players. Afriat took the reins midway through the day and spun his stack up to the top, he would level out at the start of the final table before hitting turbo to the top once again before the end of the night with a few key hands.

Second in chips to end the night was Alain Bauer with 7,880,000. He had a similar trajectory to Afriat as he put the pedal to the medal in the final few hands to skyrocket to the top after having become a serious player about halfway through the day.

Nir Cohen finished the day in third place with 6,225,000 after he won a large portion of his stack before the final table.

But the story of the tournament continued as Doug Polk was able to find his way to bag and the final six, where he will sure to be the feature act on the streaming final table tomorrow. He finished fifth in chips with 2,105,000.

The day began with 39 players and was quickly cut down to the final three tables in just over an hour.

Some well-known players were cut down during the march to the final table, including Andrew Moreno in 22nd, Alex Keating in 20th after having had a large chip count in the early parts of the day and Stephen Song was eliminated in fourteenth in a brutal way when his kings were spilled by a rivered set of sevens.

The final table would be reached at around 9 p.m. where Mohammad Bagheri would become the first victim against Afriat in ninth place. Schuyler Thornton was then taken out in eighth place by Cohen and to end the night, Farid Jattin went from one of the biggest stacks to start the final table to out the door on the live stream bubble after losing big hands to Bauer and Afriat before being finished off by Rivero

The remaining six players return to the scene of the battle tomorrow at 2 p.m. to blinds at 32:38 left in Level 25 with blinds at 30,000/60,000 where they will play down to the winner.

The action will be live-streamed on a thirty-minute delay on the Lodge youtube channel. PokerNews updates will follow the live streaming.

Afriat Clips Jattin on the River

Level 25 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Eric Afriat
Eric Afriat

Eric Afriat opened from the hijack, making it 150,000 to go and Farid Jattin defended his big blind to see the {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} flop. Jattin check-called a bet of 175,000 from the Canadian on the flop, and the turn was an {8-Spades}.

Jattin tapped once more and Afriat put in 500,000. It took about 30-seconds but Jattin called and the {7-Diamonds} completed the board. Afriat saw action check to him and this time he came out firing, betting 1.5 million.

The decision took Jattin over a minute but ultimately, he called. Afriat quickly tabled {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} for a rivered straight and Jattin mucked, shipping a good chunk of his stack to Afriat.

Bauer Takes Massive Pot From Jattin

Level 25 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Alain Bauer
Alain Bauer

The board read {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{j-Clubs} in a blind-on-blind battle. From the small blind,Farid Jattin bet 600,000 into a pot of about 400,000. Alain Bauer was in the big and clicked it back for 1,200,000. Jattin thought for a bit before three-bet jamming all in for a massive amount, which Bauer called after a couple of seconds.

Alain Bauer: {j-Spades}{2-Spades}
Farid Jattin: {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Bauer had trip jacks while Jattin would need to connect on his open ender. The river came the {8-Hearts} to keep Bauer ahead and score the massive pot through Jattin, likely the largest pot of the tournament thus far.

The action folded around to Schuyler Thornton in the small blind and he move his stack into the middle for 680,000. Nir Cohen was in the big blind with a decision to make, and he chose to call with his painted cards.

Schuyler Thornton: {k-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Nir Cohen: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}

The dealer slowly spread the flop, starting with a window {8-Spades}, followed by {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. Thornton was still in the lead with his flopped snowman.

A {7-Clubs} turn hit down on the felt, leaving Cohen in need of a connection. The {3-Spades} river did just that as Cohen nailed his flush to scoop in the pot, eliminating Thornton just shy of the official final table of six.
