Pates Doubles Through Lawrence

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Jim Lawrence min-raised and was shoved on by Ken Pates, who had about 450,000. Lawrence called, but he was in the worst situation possible.

Lawrence: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Pates: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}

Pates' bullets held on the {7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Diamonds} runout.

Brian Soja Eliminated in 10th Place ($7,352)

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Brian Soja -10th Place
Brian Soja -10th Place

Mike Lang opened for 90,000 in middle position, and Brian Soja announced a raise when action folded to his big blind. He made it 230,000. Lang shoved all in, and Soja snap-called.

"S***," Lang said, turning over {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} and obviously fearing the worst.

He was the one in command though, as Soja tabled {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}.

"Quick exit this year I guess," Soja said as the dealer spread a flop of {2-Hearts}{j-Spades}{4-Clubs}. Soja took second in this event last year for just over $50,000.

A {10-Clubs} turn changed nothing, and the {6-Hearts} river meant Soja was the first to exit the final table.

Brian Zekus Eliminated on Final Table Bubble

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Brian Zekus busted in 11th.
Brian Zekus busted in 11th.

Action folded to Brian Zekus, who shoved all in for 292,000. Tony Lazar called in the small blind.

Lazar: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Zekus: {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Zekus' dominated hand improved considerably on the {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop. The {10-Clubs} paired the board on the turn, no help to Zekus. A {2-Spades} river meant the final table was set, and a disappointed Zekus silently pushed his stack into the middle.

Players are moving to the final table, at which point stacks will be counted and a dinner break will commence.

Wilmes Gets Paid by Smith

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

When we got to Table 2, Mike Wilmes was announcing a bet of 260,000 on the end with the board reading {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. Jason Smith called relatively quickly, and Wilmes showed {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for a turned broadway straight.

Behling Ships With Six-High, Doubles

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Harry Behling spiked the backdoor flush.
Harry Behling spiked the backdoor flush.

Mike Lang raised to 50,000 on the button, and Harry Behling pushed all in for about 260,000 in the big blind. Lang called.

Lang: {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Behling: {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

A flop of {2-Spades}{j-Hearts}{5-Clubs} gave Lang top pair, while Behling had a gutter.

"Put a heart out there," Brian Zekus said.

The dealer obliged with the {9-Hearts}, giving Behling additional outage. The {8-Hearts} river meant the final table bubbled continued.

"Schneids" Done in 12th

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Mike Schneider got caught reshipping with 86.
Mike Schneider got caught reshipping with 86.

Mike Wilmes opened for 55,000 in the cutoff, and Mike Schneider jammed for about 250,000 on the button. Jason Smith woke up with a reshove in the small blind, and Wilmes followed the big blind into the muck.

Smith: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Schneider: {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

Smith was in a very comfortable spot, and the {a-Spades}{7-Spades}{q-Clubs} flop brought Schneider nothing. A {6-Hearts} brought a backdoor prayer, but the {4-Diamonds} river signaled the end for longtime CardRunners pro "Schneids."
