Friedman's "Reentry Call" is Correct

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Mike Ermie raised to 900 from middle position and Adam Friedman three-bet to 2,000 from the hijack. Rick Terrill then four-bet all in from the cutoff for 9,675. Ermie folded and Friedman immediately began to verbally analyze the hand.

Friedman's "want action?" was met with a quick "every day" from Terrill. Friedman continued to talk his way through things, eventually calling, noting "if this wasn't a reentry I would probably fold." Terrill slow rolled the inferior {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} one card at a time and Friedman was relieved to see his {10-}{10-} ahead.

The board ran out {8-}{6-}{4-}{j-}{k-} as Terrill was eliminated and Friedman's second bullet is still in the chamber.

"Please Don't Say What I Had"

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Once again Adam Friedman opened for 650, and this time he got two callers in the form of Ken Payne and Mike Ermie on the button and big blind respectively. The {4-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} flop saw Ermie check, Friedman continued fro 675, and Payne fold. Ermie made the call and it was heads up to the {J-Spades} turn.

Ermie proceeded to check-call a bet of 1,025 before leading out for 3,200 on the {3-Diamonds} river. Friedman didn't seemed pleased by the bet and thought for a long time.

"Please don't say what I had," he said to us before tossing in a call. We'd have reported it, but we can't as he mucked when Ermie rolled over the {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} for jacks full of queens.

Terrill Terrorizing

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Adam Friedman opened for 650 from early position and received a call from Rick Terrill in middle position. The hijack came along, as did Ken Payne in the small blind, and four players saw a flop of {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Two checks put action on Terrill, and he fired out 3,5000.

It did the trick as one by one his opponents folded.

"So brutal," said Friedman, who was last to fold. He then flashed the {a-Spades}{q-Spades}. Terrill obliged and showed a ten.

The Bell Tolls for Two Runners

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

We walked up to a three-way pot and a board that read {5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Rob Wood pushed all in for 4,575 and an unknown player called. Dee Bell called as well and we were still three ways, but with only Bell and the unknown having chips. The unknown pushed his last 4,525 into the pot on the {7-Diamonds} turn and Bell made the call.

Wood and Bell were both trailing as their over pairs were under the jacks of the unknown. Woods eights were no good, but Bell hit the miracle nine on the river to match her pocket pair. Wood, who just recently had a healthy stack is gone, as is the unknown player and Bell is up to over 50,000.

Townsend Captures the Second MSPT FireKeepers Title; Lamphere Runner-Up Again

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
The second MSPT FireKeepers final table.
The second MSPT FireKeepers final table.

From August 17-25, the MSPT was back in Battle Creek, Michigan, and attendance was up as 301 entrants packed the poker room and created a prize pool of $301,000. Amazingly, there were some familiar faces at the final table in Patrick Steele and Adam Lamphere.

Like he did at the first final table, Steele finished in fourth place, a feat that helped him capture the MSPT Season 4 Player of the Year title. Similarly, Lamphere finished as runner-up for the second time in a row. It was disappointing for him to come so close in back-to-back MSPT FireKeepers Main Events, but the $42,118 consolation prize no doubt helped ease the pain.

In the end it was Jordan Townsend, who was sporting a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shirt, that stopped Lamphere and took the title and $76,975 first-place prize for himself.

Here’s a look at the second MSPT FireKeepers final table:

Bringing the Hammer Down

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Three players each put in 700 preflop to see a flop of {k-Clubs}{4-Spades}{a-Clubs}, which they all checked. When the dealer burned and turned the {3-Spades}, the big blind led out for 1,500, Bruce “The Hammer” Swart called, and the cutoff came along.

All three players returned to checking on the {2-Hearts} river and Swart tabled the {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}. It was good as both his opponents mucked.

Satui Doubles

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

David Satui limped from middle position, a player in middle position raised to 700 and Ken Payne and another late-position player made the call. Satui raised all in for 9,000 total, the initial raiser folded, Payne made the call and the other player folded as well. Satui and Payne were heads up and the {k-}{k-} of Satui had Payne's {k-}{q-} dominated.

The board ran out {j-}{9-}{2-}{a-}{5-} and Satui doubled up while Payne lost over one-third of his stack.
