Luong Makes a Tough Call

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

We found Phillip Luong on the button, tanking against a small blind shove of 16,050 on a flop of {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. The pot contained about 35,000 before the shove, and Luong found a call.

Luong: {j-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Small blind: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

Luong needed to dodge tens and clubs, and he did so as the {5-Diamonds} and {9-Hearts} peeled off.

Kessler Lays Down

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Allen Kessler
Allen Kessler

Allen Kessler was in the small blind, and he bet 8,000 against two opponents on the end after the community came {k-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades}. The cutoff folded, but the player on the button moved all in, putting Kessler at risk for his last 32,000 or so. "Chainsaw" leaned back in his chair, deep in thought.

"Checked the turn..." he muttered aloud.

After a couple of minutes, he slid his cards into the middle, and his opponent showed {10-Spades}.

"Probably chopping," Kessler said.

Mader Busts Wasicka

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Phil Mader
Phil Mader

Phil Mader opened for 1,300 in middle position and was called by Paul Wasicka on the button and both blinds. On the {6-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop, the small blind bet out 1,500 and Mader called after the big blind folded. Wasicka made it 5,000 to go, forcing out the small blind, and Mader went into the tank. After some thought, he put 17,000 in, causing Wasicka to tank even longer.

"How long does a player have?" the small blind said. "Can I call the clock?"

"Sorry, but when you have this," she said, holding up a short stack of about 13,000, "you need to see some cards."

Wasicka elected to push all in for about 30,000, and the Nebraskan quickly called.

Mader: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Wasicka: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}

Mader was way in front, and running fives iced it for him.

Wasicka reentered and has been seated at the table nearest the media table.

Keeline, Hodge Chipping Up

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Ben Keeline
Ben Keeline

Ben Keeline just stacked up to nearly 75,000 after action was folded to his small blind, and he opened for a raise. The big blind defended, and Keeline bet all three streets with {a-}{k-} on an ace-high board, with the big blind calling his river shove of roughly 25,000 with {a-}{5-}.

At another table, a player opened for a raise in the cutoff to 1,500 and got three-bet to 4,000 by Mark Hodge on the button. The small blind shipped all in for 13,500, the opener folded, and Hodge made the call after thinking for a bit with {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. His opponent had {k-Spades}{j-Spades}, and Hodge won the race as the community came {8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts}.
