Seefeld Bluffs Mader Off Bullets

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Jason Seefeld
Jason Seefeld

Phil Mader put in 7,000 on a board of {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{j-Spades}{10-Spades} and saw Jason Seefeld raise to 20,000 from middle position. Mader thought for a while before calling, and the river was a brick: {3-Diamonds}. Mader checked, and Seefeld bet 25,000. Mader thought a few minutes, apologizing to the table, before electing to fold {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} face up. Seefeld smiled and showed {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a pair and a missed straight draw.

"Ah, I call the 20, I should call the 25," Mader said.

Friendly Flop for Mader

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Phil Mader
Phil Mader

Phil Mader opened under the gun and then called the shove of an early player who had about 20,000.

Mader: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Opponent: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}

The flop came {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{3-Hearts}, giving Mader a wide lead in the race. The {k-Spades} and {8-Hearts} didn't help his opponent.

Givens, Tryba Take Hits

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Will Givens opened to 2,400 and was called by the player on the button before the big blind shipped all in for 15,900. Givens shoved over, forcing out the third player.

Givens: {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Button: {a-Hearts}{4-Spades}

The board ran out ten-high, no help to Givens.

At another table, Chris Tryba bet what looked like 7,500 on a flop of {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades} and saw an opponent shove in for about 28,000 more. Tryba decided to gamble with {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}, and his opponent had {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}.

"Worst card," Tryba said as the {q-Hearts} hit to eliminate hearts from his outs. The {3-Clubs} river was a blank.

Boudreau's River Shove Gets Krier Out

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Matt Krier bet 6,000 from the cutoff on a board of {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and was called by Kevin Boudreau on his left. The river brought a {3-Clubs} and a check from Krier, and Boudreau stacked his chips in one tower and placed them in the middle. Krier tanked for a couple of minutes and mucked.

Chad's Mom Already Stacking Up

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Blake Bohn has a new horse in the field.
Blake Bohn has a new horse in the field.

A player known only as "Chad's Mom" just scooped a decent-sized pot when she check-called 6,500 out of the small blind against a player in middle position on a board of {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. On the {8-Spades} river, both players checked, and Chad's Mom rolled over {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for top pair, which was good.

According to sources preferring to remain anonymous, Chad's Mom was the benefactor of Mid-States Poker Tour team pro Blake Bohn, who put her into the tournament during the dinner break. Chad's Mom is reportedly the mother of one of the poker room managers.

Krier Doubles Up

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Matt Krier
Matt Krier

We found Matt Krier all in with {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for his last 21,000 or so against a player who had him dominated with {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}. The flop changed things in a hurry though, coming {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, and a {3-Hearts} turn sealed it for Krier.

Friedman Busts Kessler

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Allen Kessler
Allen Kessler

Shortly after exchanging words with Allen Kessler, Adam Friedman got the final word in and busted him (Friedman said the two had dinner together on break, for the record).

Kessler opened for 2,500 in the cutoff, leaving himself about 6,000 behind, and Friedman made the call in the big blind. On the {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop, Friedman check-called Kessler's shove with {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for top pair, while Kessler had {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a double-gutshot. Kessler found no improvement on the {3-Spades} turn and {6-Clubs} river, and he said he won't be reentering.
