Wasson Bluffs Rogers

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

David Wasson and Bill Rogers were heads up. The board read {j-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Wasson led out for 30,000. Rogers raised to 75,000 and Wasson reraised all in for 122,000. Rogers took a long time to make his decision, similar to a hand he won right before the end of Day 1a. In that hand he tanked for a long time and called. He ended up being good and won a huge pot which propelled him to second in chips to end that day.

Back to day 2 where, after tanking for a couple minutes, Rogers elects to fold {a-}{j-} face up. Wasson turns over {k-}{10-} to show only a gut-shot straight draw. Rogers looks up to the ceiling in dismay and Wasson stacks the pot.

Bubble Bursts, Set Over Set Sends Larry Baxter Out in 54th Place ($2,163)

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Hand for hand play lasted for about 40 minutes. Gregory Lamson was waiting for his spot to double up. Lamson ended up being all in for only the 1,000 ante and won the hand getting up to 9,000. The 9,000 was just enough to pay his big blind and the ante on the next hand. Lamson busted and was the bubble.

At the same time, Larry Baxter and David Mclaughlin were all in on the flop of {q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Baxter had a set of threes, {3-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Mclaughlin had a set of queens, {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}. The turn sealed the deal when Mclaughlin made quads on the {q-Clubs} turn. The {j-Hearts} on the river was irrelevant. Larry Baxter was eliminated in 54th place.
