Liu Busts After Doubling Thiem, Takes Alexander With Him

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

MSPT Pro Matt Alexander and Peixin Liu both busted on the same hand. They both missed different draws against Jeff Jelinek, who started with the best hand and finished with the best hand, eliminating both Liu and Alexander.

The board read {9-Spades}{10-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and all three players got all in. Liu held {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Alexander held the flush draw with {k-Spades}{7-Spades}. Jelinek had {a-}{a-} and held against both players after the board ran out blanks.

Jelinek is now the chipleader with 54 players remaining and a little more than three levels left.

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and Lowery lost a huge pot, leaving him under 10 big blinds. The pot put Overlien in a good position to make Day 2 with just 3 levels left in the evening.

Closing Ziebell

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Byron Ziebell and John Reading were heads up and looking at a board of {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and Ziebell check-raised Reading all in.

When the turn hit Reading checked to Ziebell and Ziebell shoved his remaining 32,000. Reading held enough chips to call in his hand while the dealer counted out Ziebell's stack seemingly waiting to call until she was done. Once the count was done Reading called and showed {5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} for two pair against the {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} of Ziebell's for a pair and a flush draw. The river was the {5-Hearts} giving Reading a boat and eliminating Ziebell.
