Marianne Deguzman
Marianne Deguzman

Chicago's Marianne Deguzman has found a couple of big hands to leap into contention here in Milwaukee.

And they both happened to be pocket aces.

Deguzman said she picked up rockets in two good spots and is closing in on triple the starting stack now.

Blake Bohn
Blake Bohn

After getting off to a quick start and a high water mark close to 50,000 in chips, MSPT Pro Blake Bohn has come back down to earth.

His most recent misstep saw him make it 1,500 from the button after two players limped in before him.

The first limper called, but the second one had other plans, shipping it in for some 20,000 or more. Both Bohn and the original limper let it go.

Jeremy Farkas
Jeremy Farkas

Milwaukee's Jeremy Farkas took full advantage when a player at his table made a rather big mistake. Using the wrong color chips he made a rather big raise preflop having intended to make a lot smaller one.

When Farkas looked down at two tens he made the call.

Farkas flopped a set and when his opponent made trip kings on the river the mistake was compounded with Farkas taking his chips holding a full house.

With that Farkas has vaulted up to a spot at the top of the counts.

Tony Hough
Tony Hough

Tony Hough got full value from a rivered set just before the break.

Add that to the chips he picked up with {a-}{a-} versus {a-}{q-} when his opponent flopped a queen and he's now taken up residence near the top of the chip counts.

Matthew Alexander
Matthew Alexander

MSPT Pro Matthew Alexander is chipping up steadily through the early levels here in Milwaukee thanks to a barrage of Broadway cards.

He just opened to 450 and got calls from the players on the button and big blind. They all checked the {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop. But when the {9-Diamonds} turn came and the big blind checked, Alexander fired out 650.

It was enough to take it down and Alexander claimed {k-}{q-}.

"Still holds up at this table," he said. "I must have had it like five or six times already."

Hassan Tahsildar
Hassan Tahsildar

Hassan Tahsildar flopped a straight and sat back and watched not one, but two players bet into him.

Turned out they both had flopped sets and when he pushed all in they were both willing to go with it.

The straight held and the Green Bay, Wisconsin resident tripled up move to a spot close to the top of the early chip counts.

Record Breaker

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Now into the day's third level the board reads a total of 239 entries.

Add that to the 309 from Day 1a yesterday and with a total of 548 entries, MSPT Potawatomi is now represents the biggest field for a poker tournament in Wisconsin state history - Beating the 487 set right here in Milwaukee this past September.

Plus, with registration and re-entry available until the start of the 10th level this evening one can expect that number to continue to grow.
