Milwaukee's Jeremy Farkas took full advantage when a player at his table made a rather big mistake. Using the wrong color chips he made a rather big raise preflop having intended to make a lot smaller one.
When Farkas looked down at two tens he made the call.
Farkas flopped a set and when his opponent made trip kings on the river the mistake was compounded with Farkas taking his chips holding a full house.
With that Farkas has vaulted up to a spot at the top of the counts.
MSPT Pro Matthew Alexander is chipping up steadily through the early levels here in Milwaukee thanks to a barrage of Broadway cards.
He just opened to 450 and got calls from the players on the button and big blind. They all checked the flop. But when the turn came and the big blind checked, Alexander fired out 650.
It was enough to take it down and Alexander claimed .
"Still holds up at this table," he said. "I must have had it like five or six times already."
Now into the day's third level the board reads a total of 239 entries.
Add that to the 309 from Day 1a yesterday and with a total of 548 entries, MSPT Potawatomi is now represents the biggest field for a poker tournament in Wisconsin state history - Beating the 487 set right here in Milwaukee this past September.
Plus, with registration and re-entry available until the start of the 10th level this evening one can expect that number to continue to grow.
