Sodoma Applies the Pressure

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Joe Ebanks had opened the cutoff and received a call from Joseph Sodoma, who defended his big blind. The two saw a flop of {q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Sodoma checked to Ebanks, who made continuation-bet of 1,400. Sodoma announced a check-raise of 4,500 and Ebanks took about 20 seconds before making the call.

The turn came {j-Clubs} and Sodoma said he was all in. Ebanks quickly sent his cards to the muck.

Schummer Wins Flip on River To Double

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Brian Schummer
Brian Schummer

A player raised to 2,000 under the gun and received calls from the hijack and the player on the button. Brian Schummer was in the big blind and three-bet all in, prompting the under-the-gun opener to reraise and push the two callers out of the pot.

Brian Schumer: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Under the Gun: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

The flop {3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and turn {5-Diamonds} were of no help to Schummer but he was saved on what could have been his final card of the tournament as the river fell {k-Clubs} to give him a pair of kings and score him the double over his opponent's queens.

Sodoma Gets an Elimination

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Joseph Sodoma
Joseph Sodoma

Joseph Sodoma was under the gun and opened to 1,400. He received a call from Sammy Aweida in middle position before a player in the hijack went all in for his last 4,300. There was a dead button in the hand and action folded back to Sodoma, who announced a reraise. Aweida quickly sent his hand to the muck.

All-In Player: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Joseph Sodoma: {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

The all-in player needed to fade two live cards and stayed out in front as the flop came {6-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Clubs}. However, the turn {7-Spades} gave Sodoma nine more outs at a flush. The river {3-Spades} then hit the felt, spelling doom for the all-in player as Sodoma completed his backdoor flush to score the elimination and earn the pot.

Both players checked the turn {k-Diamonds} to bring the river {k-Spades}, where action once again went check-check to take the hand to showdown.

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Saad Ghanem
Saad Ghanem

Saad Ghanem was just seen with full stacks of almost every denomination of tournament chip, boasting a stack of 177,000.

He was kind enough to share how he got there: "Oh, not much (by way of exciting hands)," said Ghanem. "Just quad nines, queens versus tens, aces versus jacks, (and a) straight versus two pair."

Ghanem looks to be the chip leader with the tournament having climbed up to 225 entries, surpassing yesterday's mark of 223 in Level 6.

Ebanks Back Over Starting Stack

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Joe Ebanks
Joe Ebanks

A player raised it up to 1,800 in early position and received a call from the hijack. Joe Ebanks was on the button and thought for about 35 seconds before announcing he was all in.

The original raiser asked for a count and Ebanks' stack was totaled to be 21,300. He thought for around a half-minute before letting his hand go. The hijack quickly followed suit and Ebanks took down the pot with his preflop shove, bringing him back over a starting stack after being seen as low as 8,000 earlier in the tournament.
